LATAM's first 787 with the new cabins

Thu Nov 14, 2019 1:12 am

Boeing 787-9 CC-BGO (msn 38483 ln 922 ff 25/10/19) is being delivered today and will fly tonight from Charleston CHS to Santiago SCL on delivery to LATAM. Of note is that this is the first 787 in LATAM's fleet to feature the new cabins (business, premier economy and economy) as well as being the 25th 787 for the LATAM Group. It will be operated by LATAM Chile.

IIRC, there are already 2 767-300ER, 3 777-300ER and 1 787-9 with the new cabins in the fleet. The 77Ws operated by LATAM Brazil, and the 763ER rotating between LATAM Argentina, LATAM Chile and LATAM Peru.

They use Vantage XL now - so it'll be more competitive than before.

Thank you!

Wow, even with the 30 Vantage XL J they manage over 300 total pax on a 789. Nice.

Latam+ isn't really a true premium economy, is it? Just regular Y with more legroom?

It should be placed on the SCL-SYD/AKL/MAD routes ASAP as their the longest routes in the LATAM network.

More legroom, better recline and footrests.

They are being deployed, naturally, on the highest yielding routes with solid premium demand, such as GRU-LHR for the 777 and EZE-MIA for the 767. Not sure which route will the see the 787 with the new cabins.

Unfortunately, they've also got tempted with Recaro CL3710 virus. It wouldn't be easy to withstand long flights in them...

Of interest too is that CC-BGO is the first LATAM 787 (-8 or -9) to be equipped with a separate cabin crew rest area. Up to now, seats were blocked and curtained off for that purpose.

Given that LATAM now has to compete with AA and the modern premium cabins on AA’s widebody aircraft, I would assume that they’d prioritize the routes in which they’re directly up against AA.

It is a beautiful cabin, but that is not Premium Economy. Great improvement compared to their current cabin. It would be the LATAM equivalent of AA Main Cabin Extra, DL Comfort +, and UA Economy Plus.
