According Bloomberg is Air Senegal close to sign a MOU for eight A220-300 at Dubai Airshow.
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2019-11-17/air-senegal-nears-tentative-730-million-deal-for-airbus-a220s

This will be one of the orders, I expect to see on the Dubai Airshow.

So the expected A350 order is now firmed. That is good, this is half a year of A350 production. Is the A380 order now cancelled? The A350 order is part of the swap from the A380,order.
An now news from the A330 Neo order?

EDIT: A330 Neo order discussion is still ongoing. and some details regarding the A350 order.
50 A350-900s worth 16 billion dollars. Delivery expected in May 2023, deliveries continuing until 2028. A350s will also offer Premium Economy. Discussions about A330neo still going on.

Not necessarily. There has been a lot in the news suggesting that Tim Clark is waiting for guarantees from RR that the engines will be reliable.

Will be interesting to see how this one unfolds. Only this week, Tim Clark went on record as saying the A330-900 was a good fit in the EK fleet, but he wanted more from the engine manufacturers in terms of reliability and maturity.

So it's difficult to tell whether the fat lady has sung on the A330-900 order yet.

Do the 45 x A330-900's get dropped?
Does the number get reduced (25 maybe?)
Do they get kept?

50 x A350 is a reduction from 30 x A350 and 45 x A330-900

No, the A330 Neo order discussion seems to be on-going. Seems Tim Clarke is just doing, what he has said prior. The RR Trent XWB have no flaws, they are far performing better than expected and he orders even some more than prior discussed.

I have to say, I start ti like this guy; he is 100% correct, the last seen issues with the Trent 1000, the PW 1000 family (especially the PW 1100G and the PW 1500G are not anymore acceptable. And also all other new generation engines have their issues, including the Leap and the GE.

Only the Trent XWB is doing the job as scheduled and expected (even better).

This purchase agreement replaces the heads of agreement signed in February where Emirates announced its intent to purchase 30 A350s and 40 A330Neos.

So... Neos are gone, I assume?

Very sad to see the A339N order go by the wayside if that is indeed what is happening but A359s are probably a more flexible option for EK - you can see why they would take them. I reckon that means a 787-10 in EK livery fairly shortly for their regional stuff.

Crucially I also think that ends any possibility of seeing the 778X in EK livery now - they'll take a few as ULR options if they need the range to replace the 77Ls.

I have to say -

A388
779X
77W
A359
78J

That's a lot of flexibility there, some very very fuel efficient aircraft. Congrats EK and STC!

Ok, according FlightGlobal:
Emirates says the new purchase deal "replaces" its previous declaration of intent.

According to this, the A330 Neo order is not any more in discussion, Emirates will only order A350 XWB.

Ignore everything that Emirates says until you actually see the aircraft in their colours.

If words were to be believed, you would have seen an EK A340-600 a B787-10 as we type.

The A380 were canceled already.

STC makes some remarks about the A330 in the last days.
https://www.aero.de/news-33176/Emirates ... Tests.html

Looks like STC wants a special version for the Trent7000, which is either not confirmed or just not ready.

So they have the wrong model on the desk  . The order probably boils down to the trent XWB working in desert conditions with RR unable to as yet provide the wing time guarantees that EK wants on the trent 7000.

HH Sheikh Ahmed said: “Today, we are pleased to sign a firm order for 50 A350 XWBs, powered by Rolls-Royce Trent XWB engines. This follows a thorough review of various aircraft options and of our own fleet plans. It is Emirates’ long-standing strategy to invest in modern and efficient aircraft, and we are confident in the performance of the A350 XWB.

Especially if he is asking for a slightly higher thrust option from Rolls and that is why he's being so specific about the engine needing to meet reliability and maturity EIS targets - the Trent XWB is a very very reliable and mature engine even at this early stage of its life. It seemed odd to me that he would be so public about these concerns about such a high performing engine, Perhaps it is a higher thrust version he's after? And if that is the case then maybe the 787-10 isn't the slam dunk I thought it was?

Interesting times.

I think all of you should take a chill pill and let the dust settled by itself (be it presumed A330neo order is still in the running or otherwise, or which A350 version they have ordered). Don't need to get to work out over an order. It is not a life and death situation.

Anyway, congratulation to both Airbus and Emirates for the stellar order. 2019 is shaping up nicely for Airbus for both narrowbody and widebody categories.

I think all of you should take a chill pill and let the dust settled by itself (be it presumed A330neo order is still in the running or otherwise, or which A350 version they have ordered). Don't need to get to work out over an order. It is not a life and death situation.

I think everyone is totally chilled. We're just trying to carve out what this mega order is all about as there is conflicting information.

Will be interesting to see how this one unfolds. Only this week, Tim Clark went on record as saying the A330-900 was a good fit in the EK fleet, but he wanted more from the engine manufacturers in terms of reliability and maturity.

Indeed, it would seem odd to heap praise on the A330neo and then drop it. Those not jumping to conclusions might have their patience rewarded. :wink2:

Especially if he is asking for a slightly higher thrust option from Rolls and that is why he's being so specific about the engine needing to meet reliability and maturity EIS targets - the Trent XWB is a very very reliable and mature engine even at this early stage of its life. It seemed odd to me that he would be so public about these concerns about such a high performing engine, Perhaps it is a higher thrust version he's after? And if that is the case then maybe the 787-10 isn't the slam dunk I thought it was?

Interesting times.

The guarantees which Clark wanted and did not get probably was for the trent 7000. The XWB has been working well for the most part in M.E conditions so RR can agree to performance clauses.

From the first sentence of that very document - "Emirates, the world’s largest international airline, today announced a firm order for 50 A350-900 XWB aircraft worth US$ 16 billion (AED 58.7 billion) at list prices at the Dubai Airshow 2019."

T7000 and XWB is basically the same engine, right? Or have I got that massively wrong?

Emirates has ordered the A350-900. 50 frames. That cancels or fulfills the MOU for 30 A350 and 40 A330neo from beginning of this year.

It looks not good for the A330-900, but I also think it looks bad for the 787-10.

I think the next round will be a 787-9 order, if Emirates wants to change the 777-8/9 order. If Boeing does not want to exchange 777-8/9 for 787, the A330neo discussion could be on again.

The T7000 was developed directly from the T700 on the A330ceo. AFAIK, the XWB was as all-new as any recent engine can be considered 'all new'.

T7000 and the T1000ten are similar engines, 80% the same parts. The TXWB and T7000/1000 have some of the same technologies, but hardly any common parts.
