"Asia Atlantic Airlines" Ceases Operations

Sun Nov 17, 2019 11:32 pm

Not many details available, and surprising absolutely nobody, AAQ apparently ceased operations on October 30. Despite its name, this airline had no routes that crossed the Atlantic Ocean. Their website remains online but there is no ability to book any flights.

Only a fly by night operation would have such a daft name, especially when no part of Asia touches either Atlantic Ocean.

Not sure if your question is a genuine one or it was supposedly meant as a humorous comment!

Asia Atlantic Airlines was not related to Euro Atlantic Airways in anyway what so ever!

The only thing that the two airline's had in common was the use of "Atlantic" in their names.

Asia Atlantic Airlines was a subsidiary of the Japanese travel agency H.I.S. but was based in Bangkok, Thailand.

FYI Just in case you ask, Virgin Atlantic Airways is not related to Euro Atlantic Airways either, the same can be said about the Faroese flag carrier Atlantic Airways :-)

For your information that Asia does touch the Atlantic Ocean, the Atlantic Ocean includes the Mediterranean Sea, and Black Sea which countries in Western Asia like Israel, Lebanon, Turkey, and Georgia are part of.

Genuine question. In the ACMI/charter business it isn't an unknown concept to establish a subsidiary with such a naming convention. For example, Air Atlanta Icelandic had Air Atlanta Europe at one point.
