Donated FedEX 727 Question

Sat Nov 23, 2019 12:01 am

Does anyone out there know if when FedEX donated the 727's you see at many airports to local community college AMT programs were the data plates on the engines and airframe removed or were they left on?

Thank you and have a nice evening

The one at JFK (N114FE, 727) that was donated to Aviation HS in NYC still has its engines on. That could also have gone to Vaughn College of Aeronautics (whose campus is across the street from LaGuardia Airport).

Go to and type in FEDEX orFederal Express under airlines. Then click on 727s under historical aircraft. Then you can get most of the 727s that were donated to various schools etc. :old:

Can't think of a reason why the data plate would be removed, but FX was definitely generous with their 727 fleet when they were phased out. Quite a few of them around North America at different A&P schools and (I assume) firefighting departments for training.
Picked a hell of a week to quit sniffing glue.
