Domestic ------- International passengers in the future

Mon Nov 25, 2019 2:12 am

Domestic ------- International Passengers Year
551,899,643 118,704,850 2002
777,972,787 235,239,717 2018

The rate of growth for international passengers is roughly double the rate of growth for domestic passengers which would take 56 years until they are the same.

Personally, I could see the rate of growth for international passengers continue to accelerate as more and more airlines try to lure Americans to different countries, and bring tourists here. I wonder if the infrastructure of remote consulting grows more and more sophisticated if domestic business travel will begin to wane, and most most visitation will be friends and family.

Several European countries are trying to eliminate domestic flying almost entirely (except for islands), notably UK, Spain and France. Of course, they are obviously physically smaller and have better trains.

Personally, I could see the two quantities being equal in a lot less time than 56 years.

A lot more domestic growth in the near future in China, India and even Vietnam.

Sorry, I am confused here: are you saying there were 777,972,787 passengers on wholly domestic sectors in 2018, vs 235,239,717 passengers on wholly international sectors?

Is this just US? Or worldwide? You do not mention from where you get these figures, nor are you clear as to what they relate. If you are going to start a discussion based around figures, please be clearer on what you are stating, and also include your source.
I only turn left when boarding aircraft. Well, mostly. All right, sometimes. OH OKAY - rarely.

No it shouldn't be renamed because of course it's about the US. The rest of the world doesn't count. The level of US centrism of some forum members is astonishing.

As a Dutch forummer I agree, there is a world about the USA and some people forget that. Including mods.

For sake of non-us data I will share the split between Dutch International VS Domestic air passengers.

International: 100%
Domestic: 0%
