Condor unveils modified livery post-Thomas Cook

Sat Nov 30, 2019 2:33 pm

Condor's D-ABUF is now wearing an alternate livery following the collapse of Thomas Cook. Basically the "Thomas Cook" titles on the fuselage are gone and the original Condor logo replaces the yellow heart on the tail.

Looks nice but it would be even better if the yellow tone matched the one of the fuselage stripe and engines.

Beautiful! Mostly because the old Condor is back more prominently on the tailplane. First it returns to near the nose (à la LH), then it comes on the winglets, and now on the stabiliser. DE is fully its own identity again!

Nice. Pretty sure the best, someone can do, without completely repainting the jets. So excellent solution and I really like it.

The Condor is back where it belongs. Hurrah.

Love it. As a sidenote though, is the grey with the condor different than the grey just behind the yellow or is it just the pic?

Much better, sometimes change is good. Glad they went back to the old tail logo, it's classier.

The logo on the tail is a decal, which is why some of the colors may look slightly off compared to the rest of the aircraft.

I LOVE it!!!!!! She's so beautiful!!!!

I know it's an impossibility but wouldn't it be just AWESOME if DE returned to LH and operated its vacation destination network (Example: Tampa, Ft-Lauderdale, Cancun, Mauritius, re-open a bunch Caribbean routes,...) while EuroWings turns its focus to being a European ULCC carrier competing with EasyJet and Ryanair!

A boy can dream, can't he?

Your dream is not far-fetched and, much probably, is also what LH Group want to do.
I wonder when people will understand:
Embraer 190 or simply E190, not ERJ-190. E-Jets are NOT ERJs!
Boeing 747-8, not Boeing 747-800. Same goes for 787.
Airbus A320, not Airbus 320.
Airbii does not exist.

Hate the grey and yellow though, Blue which was their pre Thomas Cook color was better.

Not exactly true. Yellow was the original Condor colour, blue was introduced after DE was bought by Thomas Cook. So, the new Thomas Cook livery was quite a step back to the Condor roots and therefore fits the independent Condor even better.

What are you talking about? Their primary color for decades was yellow.

Simple yet elegant. The sunny heart can remain with Sunclass...and the crane stays yellow.

I think this is most praise I have ever seen on this page for a livery update. Amazing how a modified livery can look 10x better than an all new one (LH)!

Me likey....While not the classic 70s/80s blue Lufty styled cheatline livery, this will do nicely. Now, if they would just start up a Boston run, drop New Orleans or Pittsburg (really?) and come to BOS.

It just shows that A.netters tend to love retro and praise everything that brings back beloved symbols from times long gone. Today the DE condor, a few days back the JAL crane.
The change on the tail is not bad, but is on no way progressive and future oriented, but a reminiscence to the past.

Well, some ANetters are only happy if things are unrealistically retro (cheatlines, metallic fuselage, etc) with no modernization.

On the other hand you’ve got corporate blandness like whatever ridiculousness the new Lufthansa is.

As a happy medium I suspect why this Condor is getting such praise is because it keeps up with the times with a current and modern paint job while still keeping a link to the past with the original logo.

Add the fact the Thomas Cook livery was mostly ugly. The Condor Logo is elegant, the Thomas Cook heart was cheap looking.

Agreed, the „sunny heart“ was ugly and cheap looking, as was / is the grayish-yellow livery introduced a few years ago. Now I find myself being stuck in the pat a bit, as I find the previous blueish livery was the best looking Condor had so far. Put that Condor bird on this tail and all would’ve been good. Currently impossible from a cost perspective, of course.

Anyway, it is to be expected anyway that this livery will be rather short-living.
