As it seems possible that HU will be gone, the future of PEK–OSL is unstable. HU already made the route seasonal and its unsure whether flights will continue in S20. Do you think other airline would take over the route? Air China/China Southern (non-stop) or Juneyao (possibly PKX–HEL–OSL)? Of course it's very unlikely that a new airline would launch BJS–OSL this year (or next year etc... Let's see how long it takes until the air traffic to China resumes).

More bad news for ARN. After discontinuing OTP-ARN until the beginning of the summer season, Tarom has now decided to cut the line in summer as well. Two cities will be linked with a two weekly rotation on Blueair.

I am surprised at how weak demand is between the two cities.

Wizzair also operates two weekly, NYO-OTP.

I was looking online and seems like Skavsta-Kutaisi has been removed from the system. Are they suspending this route before it's even launched?

Hi all,
a new member joining the discussion.

I just wanted to address the scenarios/forecasts for AY and HEL on the 1st page of this topic. Given the recent development of the coronavirus, my forecast for the next few years is more bearish than the previously displayed ones.

The cancellation of the China flights is obviously already hurting both AY and HEL, but they could be in some serious trouble if the fast outbreak of the virus in South Korea and Japan leads to cancellation of flights from/to these countries as well. Naturally, other airports and airlines in the Nordics will be also affected but not as hard as AY and HEL. This is due to Finnair’s dependence on the Asian traffic + the massive A350 and airport expansion investments by AY and HEL in the recent years. The world economy would be hit hard in this scenario, and I presume that it would take several years for AY and HEL to get back on the growth track.

I really hope that it won’t pan out like that, but the possibility for this scenario does exist at this time.

Hi and welcome!

Yeah airlines like Finnair (+ HEL) get the first hit but reading the news today from Italy, Iran, S Korea it looks Corona is becoming a global problem. Corona has now arrived in the middle of the open EU, I would be surprised if it doesn't spread further, sooner or later. I'm afraid this will be a big head ache to all the airline industry and the world economy generally.

Do you know which routes are being terminated? The press release doesn't specify, I suppose it will be mostly northern Italian destinations?

HEL February 2020 statistics

Domestic: 285,835 (-2.3%)
International: 1,213,490 (-2.0%)
Total: 1,499,325 (-2.1%)

YTD Total: 3,105,618 (+0.4%)

For the first time after months of continuous growth, HEL saw fewer passengers in a month compared to the previous year. Not surprising and March will surely be even worse.

The political majority in Västerås have decided to close (Stockholm) Västerås airport (ESOW/VST). The reason is lack of financial viability for many years and the costs are expected to rise as well.

First SAS 737 in new livery

Fri Mar 13, 2020 2:46 pm

Just found a picture of SAS 737 SE-RJX already painted in new livery. Thought that SK would go all Airbus and I thought the Boeing won't get new repaints. But surprised to see the new livery on the 737 and the livery was great.

If it's not Boeing, I'm not going!

I think that the new livery looks good on all their aircrafts except for the A350. Is this the first 737 with a racoon mask?
