If this has been posted previously my apologies, however.............
I stumbled across this interesting addition/change:
Startin April 8th a 772 has been added to MIA-LAS with a returning red eye. Runs until April 23. $950 r/t in J too!

That makes 2x 788, 1x 772, and 1x 763 into LAS on 4/9.

I'm starting to feel like I'm in a time warp back to the early/mid 70's with all these domestic widebody ops!

That's definitely a weird mix... We'll see if that sticks once the Fall schedule gets finalized, or if they decide to add some other mainline aircraft into the mix.

That'll depend if the MAX comes back into the fleet by then.

That's one consideration, but if they really want to bump up capacity on LAX-SEA they could quite easily shift some E75 flights to LAX-LAS or something like that to free up some mainline aircraft for LAX-SEA.

Seems to me if the airplane will be coming from LAX, wouldn't that indicate that the LAX base will crew the SEA-BLR flight? I suppose it means the LAX/SEA/LAX tag at each end would be the last/first flight of the day for a crew, with a separate crew operating SEA/BLR/SEA with at least one RON at SEA in each direction? I can't imagine the same crew would operate LAX-SEA and then continue on to BLR; even with crew-rest bunks on the long-haul sector, wouldn't that exceed their allowed max. duty time?

Yes, I am certain there will be a crew change in SEA. Crew will overnight in SEA and then take the aircraft to BLR the next day.

Ive been told by a American 787 pilot that its a DFW pilot base trip

Is it fair to say February 2020 was a historical month for American Airlines?

- Began 787 PHL operations
- Announced official Miami 787 operations
- Launched partnership with GOL
- Launched stronger partnership with Alaska Airlines, + Alaska's set to join Oneworld.
- Reinstated partnership with Qatar Airways.
- $550 million investment in the TUL maintenance base
- Reached 700 daily departures from CLT
- Announced Seattle as an international gateway.
- Announced Seattle to Bangalore (return to India)
- Announced Seattle to London.
- Potential AA flights to DOH.

Am I missing anything?

It's quite a leap!
They still have the TATL announcements in August so looking forward to that!

I think you summed it up pretty well. The next two years should be interesting to watch - I hope they are able to keep the momentum going. I think the underlying theme will be to improve their presence in Asia.

ORD-ANC/FAI has been upgauged to the A321 instead of 738.

DFW-ANC will see the 788 again from June 4.

Looks like AA's Alaska flights are doing well.

Doesn't surprise me. I spent several weeks last spring and early summer looking for BNA-ANC fares to hit all 50 states before I turned 40 and the fares were ridiculous: $1200-1500 all summer long in Y. I could fly to Europe from BNA for less--and did!

This morning, Warren Buffet announced that the Berkshire Hathaway shareholders' meeting will not have the public in attendance. All events held with the meeting are cancelled. So, will AA, as well as other carriers, drop their extra weekend service to OMA for May 2 through May 5? I don't remember all of the extra flights, but AA did have LGA-OMA that weekend. UA has flown SFO-OMA that weekend for several years.

Why does AA still fly to Heathrow from RDU? I thought they shut down the RDU hub after the TWA merger.

Charlotte is only a few hours away and that is the second largest AA hub.

I believe AA has lucrative corporate contracts in the RDU area that will pay for a number of J seats whether booked on not. That flight has been around a long time. I would assume that if at some point those contracts aren't as profitable to AA that flight will be gone in a nanosecond. However, I believe these might be pharma companies so Corona isn't going to be slowing down their business. It used to be served by a 763.

Well it seems as though Corona has slowed it down as AA is temporarily suspending the RDU-LHR flight.

Because it’s not an approved gateway by the FEDS, just the same as CLT and PHL

The UK is not at this time is not included in the European ban, so not being an approved entry point is irrelevant. Hence RDU was suspended likely due to a lack of demand. CLT/PHL are still operating LHR flights. RDU-LHR is scheduled to resume on 5/7.

That is too bad. The product on RDU flight is far superior than the old A330 AA uses on CLT!!!

How would anyone here know? I doubt anyone here has an answer to your question, the airline has not provided the details regarding specific route/equipment. We can only speculate at this point

It is now. Threads speculating on new routes, etc. are basically pointless now and likely the rest of the year.

The curious thing I see in the AA press release is their quote about suspending SoAmer except "certain northern SoAmer markets" but from what I'm seeing, they're suspending ALL services to SoAmer. I mean, they're axing everything to Colombia, Ecuador, LIM (if you even consider that "northern" SoAmer) and even GEO, so what's left???

And A330s I would presume, unless they need those on hub to hub domestic routes. And at that point I would imagine that the 757s will be flying on domestic runs for the last year they are in service with American. Do they still fly 757s to anywhere in Europe?

What is going to happen with all the PHL 767s transatlantic routes?

Replaced by the 788s that were supposed to operate to Asia.

And A330s I would presume, unless they need those on hub to hub domestic routes. And at that point I would imagine that the 757s will be flying on domestic runs for the last year they are in service with American. Do they still fly 757s to anywhere in Europe?

The 757s are still on quite a few routes into Europe.

PHL-KEF/EDI/SNN/CMN, and there’s MIA-BSB.

Stopping JFK-LHR because British Airways will continue with that route?

I would very much doubt that some of the new routes touted further up this blog to begin in October will be happening now. Indeed, we could see AA coming back after things ease off with a much more modest offering both domestically and internationally. Many of the announced new routes across the Atlantic (Italy ,Croatia), to NZ (LAX-CHC, DFW-AKL), to India (SEA-BLR)...etc. Will be interesting to see if and when these come to light.

I find it strange that AA would replace the B787 with B767-300 on the PHL-MAN route from May 07 to Oct 24. Weren’t they planning to retire the B767s by May? Is this probably a filing error, or does anyone know if the plan has changed?

Same for PHL-PRG from May 07 to Jun 04.

Internal memo, verified by CNN:
https://twitter.com/CNN/status/1240692037004886017

"The striking numbers in an internal email from American Airlines President Robert Isom include a reduction of international flights by 75 percent and domestic flights by 30 percent in April, “with plans to reduce it even further in May.”

AA is grounding nearly half of its fleet and canceling 55,000 flights next month, the message said American would park 130 wide body and 320 narrow body planes.

Alright, what's going on at AA??

From March 16 to May 6, they said they would operate only a daily DFW/MIA-LHR and a 3x weekly DFW-NRT.

http://news.aa.com/news/news-details/20 ... fault.aspx

Except... it looks like March 19 had 3 DFW-LHR flights, 2 MIA-LHR flights, and 2 DFW-NRT flights.

Today, March 20, British Airways' LHR-DFW flight is cancelled and AA is running 4 DFW-LHR flights along with 2 DFW-NRT and 2 MIA-LHR flights.

Not only that, AA said DFW-HND would be delayed until May, but it's available for booking from March 28 on a 77W.

Check back early Sunday morning, that's when these changes will likely be loaded

For DFW-LHR today, I'm only seeing two flights. AA50 and AA78. They are probably just repatriating Brits in the US and Americans in the UK. Dummy bookings for April do reflect DFW and MIA down to one flight to LHR on AA and BA dropping both entirely.

Ah yeah, I'm seeing that. One flight on AA and BA for tomorrow. It looks like DFW-HND will operate instead of NRT in April, unless it updates.
