I agree....very well done.

I'm shocked to see how many undelivered frames WN is waiting on; 35 total,
along with the original 34 being stored in VCV.

Southwest's MX team will have quite a job on their hands getting that many planes
back in service.

The Boeing press release of Dec 16th says:

Throughout the grounding of the 737 MAX, Boeing has continued to build new airplanes and there are now approximately 400 airplanes in storage. We have previously stated that we would continually evaluate our production plans should the MAX grounding continue longer than we expected. As a result of this ongoing evaluation, we have decided to prioritize the delivery of stored aircraft and temporarily suspend production on the 737 program beginning next month.

I don't recall seeing these DeFazio quotes elsewhere, although they seem to date from before the Boeing CEO was ousted, so I have added this as reference material.

Re- FAA Head Of Safety - did he lie, was he just incompetent, is his position a Nuremberg defence or maybe a combination of all three?.

Turkish Airlines says reaches compensation deal over Boeing 737 MAX

It did not specify the size of the payment but Turkey’s Hurriyet newspaper reported that it was worth $225 million including $150 million in compensation and $75 million covering things such as spare parts and training.

To put the reported numbers into perspective, TK has 12 grounded Maxes, and 12 others were scheduled to be delivered since grounding . 2020 is going to be a dark year for Boeing financially! The good news is that there might be a clearer picture as to when the Max would flying again.

Main point of the article: if Max is scrapped Airbus will have to spend a lot on R&D fast to compete with new Boeing plane - which will not be good for shareholders.
Not a new thought, what interested me was seeing in a subtitle in major financial newspaper: "If Boeing scraps the 737 Max". Also in the article: "The fate of the 737 Max remains unknown".

The FAA is thinking about mandatory simulator training for 737MAX pilots.

The first wave of reassignment notices went out to employees Monday, informing some workers on the 737 jet program in the Puget Sound region that they will be temporarily transferred to the 767 and 777 programs in Everett.

Other Renton workers will be sent to Moses Lake in Central Washington, where more than 200 completed but undelivered MAXs are currently parked for long-term storage. And some will go to Victorville, Calif., which Boeing has newly designated as another MAX storage site.

Assembly line mechanics and engineers will work at those locations on maintaining the parked aircraft. Then, as soon as regulators give clearance for the MAX to fly again, they’ll do the extensive lubrication and systems testing necessary before the jets can return to flight.

It'd be interesting to know more, i.e. if some will need re-training, and if housing assistance will be provided, etc.

Leeham News reports that Boeing internally sees production suspension of the 737 MAX of at least 60 days, LNA thinks it will be more like 90 days.

The FAA is proceeding slowly and flight testing is going at a snail’s pace, LNA is told. Only one airplane has been authorized for flight testing by the FAA. This compares with three or four normally used by Boeing for tests of this nature

With all these factors casting continued uncertainty over the recertification of the MAX, restarting production appears highly unlikely though March—90 days from now. Internally, Boeing so far doesn’t see production restarting through February.

Local news is reporting that the GE Aviation plant in Bromont, Québec, is laying off some 70 temporary employees directly as a result of the MAX grounding. This plant makes turbine blades for the Leap-1A and 1B engines.

Boeing likely faces an extended timeline to clear its inventory of 400 737 MAXes. LNA estimates it will be well into 2022 before these new-production airplanes are delivered to customers.

Has anyone noticed that (according to flightaware) one of AC's MAX 8's flew from Marana to Windsor, ON today.

Seems odd unless there's a glimmer of hope something good is finally happening. I know I'm reaching. Why would they want to do this?

I noticed that too, looks like one flew YUL-MZJ today, too. My guess would be bringing them back for scheduled maintenance.
