Re: Qantas Fleet Thread - 2020

Qantas has updated it's Inflight Internet/ WiFi page to say 96% of 737s and 80% of 332s.

96% is 72 of 75 737s - so 3 left - likely VYD, VYH and XZB by photos and history
80% 8 of 10 domestic 332s - EBA, EBK (EBK is currently under maintenance)

The timetable for the launch of the ViaSat3 sats (a trio of Ka band satellites) that QF has chosen for international also seems to have solidified
US Sat - late 2021, Euro and Asia Sat - by mid 2022. But probably adds some time for positioning and testing.

The 11th will be out of rotation from 13-Feb when QF127/128 seasonal upgauge to 388 reverts back to 744/789.

OQG is leaving SYD tonight. QF6027 is heading to SIN and presumably onto DRS.

OQG has not been repainted yet. Does anyone know if the plan is to repaint after reconfig in DRS?

Think I read somewhere that the rest of the unpainted A380 fleet is going to be painted in PUS

Maybe EK413 can confirm this?

Cheers,
Michael

The remaining 3 x A380’s will be repainted at Korean Air’s painting facility at Gimhae International Airport.

Agreed on both counts. I will only add that it would look better even still if it were sporting those RB211s...

Will either be done alongside OQG or will these two wait until April?

-OQA simultaneously along side -OQG & -OQD once -OQA returns. -OQG must be in for reconfigure.

Unfortunately the repaint didn’t happen & aircraft was in SIN for routine maintenance. Not sure as to when -EFR will be scheduled for the revised livery repaint, will provide an update.

Have seen photos of B717 VH-NXN which returned from maintenance in Seletar in late January - it was repainted in the revised livery during that visit and is named 'Freycinet National Park'.

As with the last three the version shown on about 90% of flights will be significantly shorter. I feel as though Qantas put out these 'feature length' versions for branding (and YouTube) only as they are rarely used in day-to-day operations.

Anyone know for certain if both OQA and OQG are in for refurb in Dresden, or just maintenance.

Also any insights into 737 WiFi. From what I can tell still 3 without (vyd vyh xzb) and been that way for a couple of months.

Does Network own them, or simple provide crew and maintenance? How does that also work with Cobham and the 717s? And QF just runs ops management for them out of Mascot?

Are there plans to combine the Eastern and Sunstate AOCs?

Curious how the regional industry in AU compares with the US where mainline and regional ops are separate but mainline makes decisions.

Cobram crew the aircraft, JQ maintain the aircraft and QF Link Ops manage the scheduling.

OQA is due to exit 6/3 and ferry DRSLHR to form QF2 whilst the plan would be for OQD to enter heavy.
