Insanely rare for DFW - EVA Air is sending its "Hello Kitty" 777-300ER tomorrow morning from Taipei, likely as a cargo flight.

Nope. Last I checked, it was completely removed from Delta’s bookings.

I wish they would keep the 78X on this route. We already get the 350-1000 with QR. We could have the best of both worlds.

I haven’t seen anything on this on anet, but it looks like the High-C gates are finally seeing their TRIP dreams come true.

https://www.bizjournals.com/dallas/news ... nal-c.html

The DFW board meeting was last week and minutes are not yet available online, but I would have to think that the board agrees that tearing down the trailer park is a no-brainer.

A few interesting notes:

1. Is $115MM enough to rebuild to new specs, even for 4 gates? (And by that I mean a full-size building that also matches the TRIP ‘look’.) That seems like a tight budget. OTOH, it’s a full raze and they don’t have to worry about keeping it ‘open’ while they work.

2. They are giving AA $6.5MM for various sundries, some of which is earmarked for moving displaced staff. It doesn’t take long while walking around even the public side of DFW to see that there are seemingly-random (for us basement dwellers) offices stuck everywhere. But are there really permanent offices in High-C that aren’t directly related to working there? I could see a break room, supervisor’s office, or the like, but if I could have an office anywhere on the field, I’d wonder whom I have cheesed off to get stuck there.

3. $1MM to allow A13 to accommodate widebodies. Greater flexibility to avoid D for domestic (or D-I) WB turns?

FWIW - The high C gates were still closed as of a couple weeks ago when I flew back home and landed in C.

Also, regarding the office space, is it possible the article (I wasn't able to read it as I'm not a subscriber) is referencing the third floor office space in the "normal" part of C? I too am not aware of any significant office space in High C.

The High C gates have been closed for almost 6 months....the DFW Fire Marshal condemnd that prefab section for not being up to code. The ramp level C35-C39 is still occupied with ramp personal in various breakrooms. Also using the gate/ramp area to park spare planes. The upper level in the regular part of C is occupied with flight attendant admin offices...etc and a few other AA offices.

Interesting! Thanks for the info - I just assumed it was due to the reduced schedule.

Thanks for the info! That's, er, interesting to say the least. I'm not trying to call you out at all, but I can't figure out how a 30-plus-year-old 'building' is suddenly not up to code. Generally -but not always-, a new tenant or some sort of extensive, invasive renovation is needed to invoke 'not-up-to-code' in an existing building. It must have been something quite serious to warrant shutting the whole thing down, and rather quickly at that. (Unless, of course, the timing isn't quite as coincidental as it appears.) Regardless, for a building that should have never been 'built' (placed there?) to begin with, it's great news, no matter how we got here.

I still can't find any additional meaningful information, but I did notice a reference somewhere to this new building holding 5 gates, instead of the current 4. Occam's Razor would suggest that somebody just forgot that there is no C38, and just did the math between C35-39. On the other hand, this would be a good opportunity to move the gatehouse of C33 from the Skylink bump-out to the new building. That corner can get hectic in busy times.

This evening (October 2) i was in Southlake and lo and behold a United 777 was landing directly overhead on 13R. FlightAware says it was United #2502 (77W) --> LAX-DFW. I'm assuming it was a charter? Anyone know for what? Just curious - rarely do such birds arrive in DFW (unless a diversion from IAH). :) thanks everyone! Was VERY neat to see on AA's home turf!

Meanwhile, DL8886 (B752) is carrying the Pardes from San Diego to DFW for the NLDS series in Arlington next week.

https://flightaware.com/live/flight/DAL ... /KSAN/KDFW

Had the Cardinals won the series, DL would've sent a B764 with flight number DL8884; instead, that flight is going SAN-STL.

They're sending another flight to DFW? Delta 767-400 SAN-DFW arriving at around 8:30 PM.

I'm wondering if that was a second flight for the Padres (which, given these perpendicular times, might not be that unusual) since it would seem to fall in the same numbering pattern for DL charters.

I can't figure out how a 30-plus-year-old 'building' is suddenly not up to code. It must have been something quite serious to warrant shutting the whole thing down, and rather quickly at that.

IIRC things like fire alerting, suppression, emergency access, etc. come with mandatory implementation dates. I know the 30 year old office building I used to reside in had to be refitted with new sprinklers, visual (not just aural) fire alerts, signs and a few other things. Suspect AA thought they were grandfathered, failed an inspection and decided not to waste any money bringing it up to code.

Looks like United(SkyWest) is taking over the Victoria, Texas contract from Boutique Air.

Boutique currently flys DFW-VCT-IAH. I found someone who did a trip report on this route, very interesting seeing someone focus on small airlines and cities like this:

Noted in the OAG Thread and now airlineroute, Volaris is adding Mexico City to DFW.

VivaAerobus just added MEX-DFW weeks ago while Aeromexico appears to have dropped MEX-DFW.

Japan Airlines has announced it will operate two one-way (passenger) Dallas/Fort Worth to Nagoya flights on December 19 and 22, both on the 787-8, intended for workers planning to return to Central Japan.

Flights went on sale around two days ago. The December 19 flight seems to be selling well already. According to ExpertFlyer's seat map, 21/30 Business Class and around 65/156 Economy Class seats have been sold.

This is pretty much a repatriation flight, but it would be cool to see AA/JL commence regular service between DFW and NGO with several Japanese business (Toyota) in the DFW area.
