Staging out of Gum allows for a return flight on the same day

90% of the time an Engineering crew flies the airplanes into and out of overhauls and heavy checks. so they may well be time limited. or? the line crews may be flying the airplane to GUM and an engineering crew flying it to XMN.

N774UA sked to enter HKG 2700/25Feb, maint. crew probably to turn to N78008
N77008 confirmed to sked to exit HKG 2699/25Feb with Polaris/PP
N78009 sitting in GUM, probably will ferry when N74007 exits - should be about 3 days behind N77008

N798UA entered GUM 2/21/20, might be positioning for XMN maint (Polaris unit), best guess would be maint after 77W N2737U exits HKG
N77022 entered GUM 2/27/20, probably positioning for replace N74007 when ready

N15969 entered GUM 2/25, probably to replace 788 N26909 in mod - thought 788s would go through mod first?
Can anyone confirm the following?:
N26960 in EvoBlu or was VCV visit for touch up
N77006, exited VCV paint, should be in EvoBlu, is she still named Robert F. Six?

Hard to judge, but looks like the Robert F. Six titles are there in lieu of the ”Connecting People. Uniting the World” titles.

A few airplanes over the years... none of which remain in the fleet.
Bob Six certainly deserves recognition as strongly relevant to the history of this airline... as does Gordon Bethune (Kellner, not so much). But if the company had an airplane named after Sam Ashmore until recently, there’s really no excuse for not having one named after the central figure of the formative years of United Air Lines.

There was an entire thread on all these changes earlier with discussion but the trigger happy mods deleted it for no reason.

Hard material with space at the bottom that allows carry on bags to be stored under the first class seat in front.

Sounds like perhaps you're a little trigger happy rushing to that judgement without using the search tool.

No, that is not it. He started the thread (it was titled United trasnpac cuts" or similar and I saw it this morning and posted a comment in it at 9am ET.
It basically called out all of the changes listed in this thread but was sooner. Now under the new rules, it probably should have been posted here, but then it should have merged into this thread.

In the same vein, I wish United had some smaller but important partnerships. I don’t know why they don’t sponsor the SF Chinese New Year Parade (WN does oddly enough), Alaska sponsors the SF Giants and SF Pride, and Frontier is still the Colorado Rockies sponsor.

Agreed. It would be nice to see more external engagement of the United brand.

And yes, they had to be picky at the time on where they spent some capital. Thats why the 777’s got nose to tail refits, since they were part of the long term plan and quite young at the time. The 25 788’s they ordered in 2009 were to replace the 21 international 763’s and the 25 A350s was to replace the 744. They weren’t interested in the 773 and wanted the next gen engine tech beyond that. Nobody could’ve seen them operating the older 767s today. I’m glad they’re still going but that wasn’t the intent back in 2009 when they ordered new aircraft.
Covid-19 will clean out the 763's shortly.
How when no UA 763s go tpac...
