While searching online for a picture of another airframe, I came across a flickr user who took very recent, really great pictures of various scrap yards throughout the US. While looking through some of them I found this one:

That is a nose section of a 787 in Marana. As far as I know LN 5 is the only one that was ever scrapped. Does anyone know to which frame this one belongs and what the purpose of it is? Could they be testing how to recycle composite materials? May it be a part of one of the fatigue/static test frames? Because LN 5 did have a different color scheme. Or are my eyes betraying me and that is not a nose section of a 787?

Any answer would be highly appreciated. And sorry for going a little bit of topic.

I think that’s just reflection from sunlight making the corner look like 787 windows. The nose profile and position of the cockpit windows relative to the exit and window line doesn’t really match the 787’s:

If anything I think the cockpit windows look more like the A300/A330/A340, but I’m not confident it is one of those over 767.

The cockpit was pretty dismantled when they scrapped LN5.

Not saying it isn't possible but they would have had to dismantle it and then rebuild it at a different location plus paint it white to remove the blue swoop.

I found 2 more pictures of it. I'm getting more and more confident that this can only be a nose of a 787. Especially in the first picture the windows do look exactly like the ones on the 787, see:

Oops I don't think that VN will find a customer for those planes, as everyone is now impacted by the pandemic, not mainly the East-Asia region like 2 months ago.
However last few weeks VN took up line 972 (VN-A874, B78X) so of course VN will take up line 1010 (and ride that aircraft directly into storage)

There should be a Vietnam there too.. or both could be in paint. (I think they can do two?) the current FAL order shows WJ, Oman, KL, UA, CZ, UA.

I think there's one KLM rolled out and a second one being assembled.

British Airways delivery is Saturday evening. Vietnam went back into paint. Two China Southern (B-20EV and not sure of the other) have been moved to our RON lot which is now being used to park 787's for Boeing. Norwegian G-CLJN was flown here on Monday from PAE. BOE843 (SE-RXA) is coming this thursday as well. Not sure what all these Norwegians are doing here. Will post the Norwegian on Twitter in just a second.
