Just to put it out there that BA have actually committed to 24 777-9s rather than the initial 18 as previously revealed

Strange the listing of LH and EY. Thought both had reduced their orders.

LH- 20 firm orders, 14 options

EY- 25 firm orders. They never cancelled IIRC, just stated that they were expecting 6 before 2022 or something like that.

I think we need to update the old maxim - lies, damned lies, statistics and aircraft orders!

Forgive me if this is off topic or already been discussed ad nauseam but what do people think of the 777-8 actually happening? Is the capacity and range difference from the 787-10 great enough to make it worth while?

What about the 777-10?

Huge gap in payload/range between the 777-8 and 787-10. Maybe not so much in passenger capacity.

B777-10 probably won’t happen. The priorities at Boeing have probably shifted with NSA/NMA. The B777-9 will need to gain more traction before Boeing starts talking to customers about a stretch.

Guess must have missed it, but I cannot find any reference to BA changing the order. All listings are for 18 firm and 24 options. Maybe an error with the numbers?

Right, but 18 are firm.

Yes this is correct. 18 firm and remaining 6 are commitments, however this is the first time we are getting numbers of the commitments

Not sure if anyone has asked this previously. But i noticed the strobe lights are located on the hinge point of the wingtips but I didn't notice the Nav Lights. Since the Nav lights have to have 110° of projection. Could having them at the hinge point cause a problem?

If you are referring to these lights.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Navigatio ... ts_1_N.PNG

I think for the 777x, the white lights aft of the hinge and the colored lights in front of the hinge (along with the wing sweep) provides the appropriate coverage.

Anyone got a FR24 link?

EDIT: https://flightaware.com/live/flight/BOE1 suggests it should go at 10:30

Watching a type flex its wings for the first time never, ever gets old.

Looking forward to hearing about a smooth testing program. That would be a big shot of confidence for the whole company.

Boeing 777X Testing/Production Thread - 2020

Tue Jan 28, 2020 6:52 pm

Just seem a fantastic head on landing video on Facebook.
https://fbwat.ch/1RGNMNMW9FiEibuE not sure if it has been posted but from the front she looks tremendous! try from about 7:50. Almost like an A330 on landing, definitely growing on me.

Seems like it’s been delayed. Not sure when it’s scheduled to take off now. Flight aware just keeps updating the time by 5 minutes as the clock ticks

I can’t really remember, but I’m pretty sure that Cockpit pictures got released in the past before the first flight.

BOE1 is heading east since some time, so far still at 15000ft.

Everything is very low key with the 777X right now because of the Max grounding.
