Those figures are not believable. Misprint is too kind a word!
From Boeing's PR after the first flight:

777-8: 8,730 nautical miles (16,170 km)
777-9: 7,285 nautical miles (13,500 km)

Basically, how much margin over the worst case scenario is the 150% requirement providing?
As it suggests - 50%. The 100% figure is supposed to be the largest load the plane would ever see in operation.
What I mean is has any aircraft ever experienced forces over the design max load in flight that has been documented?
bikerthai wrote:airnorth wrote:I assume China Airlines Flight 006 would qualify as a flight that exceeded design max loads.
This would be an example of the frame exceeding limit load or 100% load.
Airframe break-up would be 150%. Not sure if this has ever occured as the only scenario I can see this happen is the plane trying to come out of a steep dive.
I believe hard landing is typically where you'll find he most occurrence of exceeding limit load.

Yes, I was waiting for the brake fire, but they cut off the video.
Isn't a wee bit early for rejected max weight take off?
The other question is did they deliberately popped the tires? At a minimum, they must have wore them down to the minimum thread to simulate real world condition?

I think that is one of the very final tests - given the potential for damage to the plane.

nope, not until Boeing's lockdown is over

What do you mean by "firing order"? The assembly steps or which employees are fired / return to work first?

"Firing order" means the loading sequence of the frames, this has always been used for Boeing production lines.

Apparently this happens in a week or so.

Three more 777-9s, all of them currently on Boeing’s Everett flight line, will join the test fleet and be flying by the second quarter, Boeing says.

So the first four are built:

L/N 1574 C/N 64241 B777-9 N779XX BOEING COMPANY (WH002)

Wonder when the next aircraft will roll out, and will it be 77W, 77F, or 779?

http://www.paineairport.com/ is a great source, I should have checked there.
Nose gear doors say "ZB" which is not what I would have expected...
It suggests we're looking at:
L/N 1624 C/N XXXXX B777-9 A6-EZB? EMIRATES (WH010)
which seems out of order, or I'm missing something.
I saw no other markings on the plane.
747classic wrote:L/N 1624 C/N XXXXX B777-9 A6-EZB? EMIRATES was not confirmed and marked with a "?"
The aircraft shown by Matt Cawby's Paine Field blog is probably L/N 1642
Because L/N 1629 has already been seen on the flight line at February 24th, see : http://www.paineairport.com/kpae18194r.htm
Again, due very limited info due the present situation : Corrections and/or updates are welcome
