Thank you Peter, what a great work on your part! Happy New Year, and please keep it up!

A question about the firing order -- do we have any visibility beyond L/N 1560 -- when are ABC frames scheduled for assembly -- evenly spaced over the remaining orders, or grouped earlier in the program, or grouped later?

L/N 1558, VQ-BIO for AirBridgeCargo was scheduled for a first (B1) fligh with callsign BOE610, but only taxi checks were performed.
One source indicates that also some engine tests (GEnx-2B, EMI testing for VC-25B?) will be performed.
Aircraft is scheduled for delivery in March.

I asked Matt at Feb 10th about "EMU", but no answer has been shown (up to now).

Most probably it's a kind of Electro Magnetic Interference (EMI) testing , to be demonstated to the FAA, for the electronics (ECU / FADEC) and wiring of the GEnx-2B engine for future use at the VC-25B (Air force One)

The present military 747 aircraft are all powered with non FADEC engines, that are less susceptible for High-Intensity Radiated Fields (HIRF)and/or nuclear blasts.
E-4B aircraft are powered by GE CF6-50E2 engines, with a conventional(mechanical) Main Engine Control (MEC)
VC-25A aircraft are powered with GE CF6-80C2B1 engines, with a conventional Main Engine Control, supervised by an electronic Power Managment Control (PMC). However if the PMC fails the engine is still (less accurate) controllable via the MEC.

Serial number 65784 has been assigned for N622UP in the FAA registry. However, the aircraft is wrongly listed as a 747-8 i.s.o. a 747-8F.

So, added to the 747 firing order : L/N 1560, 747-8F, RC686, UPS, serial number 65784, N622UP

See : https://registry.faa.gov/aircraftinquir ... rtxt=622UP

For correct listing of N621UP, see : https://registry.faa.gov/aircraftinquir ... rtxt=621UP

Whats the sense behind building serial-no. 65785 before 65784? As much as I know the will both be owned by UPS.
Why isnt Boeing assigning serial-nos. at least somewhat chronologically, like they did in the past, before the year 2000.

Below is de defintion of the Boeing's Serial (Construction) Number (C/N) or Manufacturer Serial Number (MSN) :

- Number given to an airplane after a firm order.
- Often Airlines or Lessors order aircraft in serial number blocks.
- Not all serial numbers are actually built.
- It's also possible that a higher serial number is built earlier than a lower number (out of sequence).
- A serial number identifies the aircraft but gives no additional info.

In this case a block of 18 sequential serial numbers has been assigned after UPS ordered the second batch of 14 747-8F aircraft, together with four 767-300F aircraft.
The actual sequence of building the aircraft may differ and will be decided by the customer. (I also don't know sometimes what the reason(s) are.)

See for Boeing's serial numbers 60000 and higher : https://www.abcdlist.nl/boeing_seattle_07.html

This" out of sequence" building happened also before the year 2000, but less frequently.

I understand if deliveries are spread out somewhat and the actual owners are not the same but isnt it very odd when such happens when two aircraft are delivered directly one after the other? Is it that maybe parts made for the earlier planned plane were rejected and the latter one put forward on the line? But then I think all UPS 748F will be exactly identical down to the last screw. Maybe that isnt the case?

Wow, its either the most exotic interior imaginable or there have been serious quality issues with it. That or the late ruler ordered constant changes. We´ll probably never know.

Saudi Royal flight may be taking LN1446 after all. AMAC Aerospace in BSL recently signed a contract for the 747's completion with a picture of the aircraft in the announcement: https://www.amacaerospace.com/euroairpo ... ch-2020-2/

The last -8i left now is LN1435 N828BA, stored in Victorville, which is sadly unattractive to potential buyers as it is below production spec and already has 600 hours. I think it could still be used as a demonstrator or testbed of some sorts in the future.

In AMAC's announcment the following is stated : "The cabin of the BBJ 747-8 will be re-configured and the whole interior will be brought to the latest level."

However L/N1446 has no cabin installed and is stored in "green status" at Basel.

So, probably another 747-8/BBJ must be involved.

The only AMAC converted 747-8/BBJ has been L/N 1449, A7-HBJ , Qatar Amiri flight

On February 25th 2020, the VC-25B program (for the "new" AF1) began modification on the first of two Boeing 747-8 aircraft.

The first phase of aircraft modification involves cutting out large skin and structure areas in both the forward and aft lower lobes of the aircraft and then installing two newly manufactured superpanels. The superpanels contain structural upgrades and cutouts for the VC-25B lower lobe doors including internal airstairs for mission requirements.

Following ferry flights in spring 2019 to the Boeing modification facility in San Antonio (TX), Boeing prepared the two aircraft for modification start by removing the commercial interiors, engines, auxiliary power units, and numerous secondary system components. Additionally, Boeing placed a sophisticated jacking and crib mechanism under each aircraft to reduce structural stress for the initial modification phases

The VC-25B modifications to the 747-8 aircraft will include electrical power upgrades, a mission communication system, a medical facility, executive interior, and autonomous ground operations capabilities.

The new aircraft are expected to begin operations in 2024

See : https://www.aflcmc.af.mil/News/Article- ... force-one/

VC-25B #1 aircraft data :

Apparently a new livery as well. It's hideous, like it was influenced by Trump. Same livery as his 757, just flipped.

Shouldn’t the Congress approves it? Or as a commander in chief he can decide the livery he wants?

You would think, but knowing this president, he'll just sign an executive order or something.

Just curious. Why would you think that the Congress would have more authority than the President to determine the livery of the Presidential aircraft? Once it is appropriated it seems that the operations would fall completely under the Executive branch. Same with congressional transport as it is the executive branch that operates the fleet.

The original USAF livery for the VC-137Cs intended for Presidential use was somewhat similar to what has been proposed for the VC-25B, but was overruled by President Kennedy, and the current scheme was eventually arrived at.

Also since this is a 747 order/delivery thread can we try to stay on topic (i'm guilty of going off topic myself)

Boeing reported their deliveries for February 2020.

There were no deliveries (no deliveries in 2020 for that matter).
There was a LOI sent to Boeing by Avatar Airlines for 30 frames, which no one took seriously.
-------
Backlog as of 29 February 2020
747-8I - 0 (+2 VC-25B)
Production Run Very Likely Complete

747-8F - 17
UPS - 13
Volga-Dnepr - 4
-------

We've likely seen the last new passenger 747 roll off the assembly line. There are 2 presidential conversions left to deliver.
At the current rate of 6 frames per year there is enough backlog left to go until the end of 2022.

The current livery is a modern classic. It is distinctive. It is well known.

747Classic, Is your database of aircraft info kept somewhere public or is it just kept for you?

All info from my own 747-8 digital database (collected over many years) was published every month at A-net (with only the latest detailed updates), but the last two years the complete detailed 747-8 listing was publised 1x year at January 1th, because of the low 747 assembly rate (6/year).

The database of all other 747 series are stored in my old paper archive, together with my own KLM and MP 747 Aircraft Operation Manuals, 747 books, etc.
All together an entire room full of 747 archives.

L/N 1558, future VQ-BIO for AirBridgeCargo, has been re-registered N784TD at March 24th 2020 , with owner Boeing.
The aircraft was scheduled for a March 2020 delivery.

Thank you for the update! Is this normal -- to go from one N-number to another N-number, for a frame for an export customer? Does this portend to anything? (like delay in delivery, or outright cancellation?)

No, this is not according the SOP for flight testing/delivery, something must have changed.

Normal SOP :
During Boeing (B1, B2 etc.) and Customer (C1,C2, etc) test flights sometimes (not always) the airframe receives a Boeing test registration (in this case N6009F) or is test flown under the allocated delivery registration, but after all test flight are completed the airframe will receive the delivery registration (in this case VQ-BIO), together with the export permit (for foreign customers).

According the latest update (incl.March 2020) of Boeing's Orders and Deliveries, the 747-8F order backlog has been reduced from 17 to 13 aircraft.
Probably four (4) Volga Dnepr orders are cancelled.

So just run out the final tranche of UPS frames and call it a program.

Had a good run.

Probably four (4) Volga Dnepr orders are cancelled.

See orders and deliveries : http://www.boeing.com/commercial/

As of today, this link:
http://active.boeing.com/commercial/ord ... iew+Report
continues to indicate 17 orders:
13 for UPS and 4 for Volga-Dnepr, as of end March
This section is typically updated with some delay, so a good snapshot how things were 35 days ago.

We know one of those four frames for Volga-Dnepr, L/N 1558, was already flying in March, but was not (and still is not) delivered.
You believe ( viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1437927&start=50#p22199425 ) it's not part of four canceled frames.
What gives? A cancellation of one of UPS frames? With two customers, options are limited, to put it mildly...

2022 is still a little on the horizon. Do we have official word that no additional orders are to be taken?
