Sorry, but this is far to early.

Tomorrow, 20-May-2020, first flight of the first in Mobile assembled A220-300 shall be performed according rumors.
So 55070 for Delta shall perform the first flight. Source is: "Fliegerfaust", so a sometimes good informed source (...sometimes..,).

Normally you would see the Aircraft perform a RTO on Flight Tracker. That hasn't happened yet so no idea where FliegerFaust gets the First Flight info from...

ALSO, it says on Fliegerfaust:

The first pre-delivery flight of the MADE IN THE USA A220 should be happening on Tuesday May 26 at Mobile, Alabama airport.

https://www.fliegerfaust.com/airbus-a22 ... 34767.html

I have seen the first date perhaps a week ago, seems Fliegerfaust got an update. So 26-May as scheduled date, I will be happy to see the first A220 produced in Mobile in the air.

This might slow things down if it affected the A220's wing production line...Bombardier's Belfast Facility was damaged by a fire: https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-northern-ireland-52795113

According to some comments I read on Twitter the fire was in the Bombardier's plant but not at the A220's production line.

According to some sources, this is the first A220-300, completed in Mobile and it is just now in the air for first flight.
https://www.flightradar24.com/AIB070/249dca45

ABCD List shows also "first flight".
https://www.abcdlist.nl/cseries/cseries.html

Also AIB family shows first flight.
https://aibfamily.flights/A220/55070

So;
A220-300, Delta Air Lines, C-GPCA, N302DU (MSN 55070)

Is just performing the first flight.

Delivered:
A220-300, Air Canada, C-GJYA, C-GJYA (MSN 55088)
https://aibfamily.flights/A220/55088
This was a short delivery flight, from Montreal to Montreal for 31 km.

https://www.flightradar24.com/data/aircraft/c-gjya#24da127b
There are still 7 jets parked in Montreal and Mobile, ready to be taken up by the airlines...and only regular performing some taxi checks and engine runs (and additional one has performed first flight).

Any updates to A220 production capacity at Mobile? 2021 production list looks pretty low.

Reputable site (use Google translate for French to English) indicates deliveries including Delta to recommence soon. Air Vanuatu may be the only significant delay due to government cash crunch.

A translation:
" A generally well-informed source tells us that deliveries to Delta Airlines will finally resume in the coming days. The resumption of deliveries to Delta is good news for the A220 as it was expected to receive several in 2020. To date, the U.S. airline has received 31 A220-100s and there are 14 left to come."

This is very good news for the A220. It needs delivery to build up support economy of scale.

'Several' is a bit of understatement. The DL Annual Report of Feb. '20 show a purchase commitment this year for 17 220-100s and 6 220-300s.

Going back to the French, I would translate 'plusieurs' as many, not several.

Currently, A220-300s destined for US airlines come from Mobile while A220-100s come from Mirabel. Delta should have both types ready with at least 3 x 100s from YMX and 1 x 300 from BFM.
Non US destined 300s are also from Mirabel..

Thanks guys. Looking at the Mobile production slots and assuming DL takes 6 -300s and B6 gets 1 -300 for 2020 they are showing about 11-12 airframes slotted for production in 2021 which seems low compared to the 1-2/mo expectation. I also see 5 unassigned MSNs and wondered if those would be for Mobile once DL or Breeze firmed up some slots?

Well 1/mo is only 12 a year, so right now it’s tracking with the lower production number with that probably ramping up towards to the end of 2021 (may not be allotted for production yet)

Now joining Delta's 2nd production 300 (55070) in Mobile, the 3rd production 300 (55075) made it's first test flight from BFM today. The 1st production 300 (55069) has yet to fly due to repairs required from damage received from fire retardant received during FAL fire in 2019.

Was there actually a fire? I thought it was an accidental release of the retardant.

I’ve been looking around and couldn’t find an answer, Is there a way to find out when a test flight/ taxi test and RTO is going to happen at least 48 hours before then at BFM?

Unless you know somebody who works there, probably not. The Flight plan even never gets picked up on FlightAware and those could be filed only a few hours before the flight actually takes off.

Corrosion and water damage. Many subsystems would require replacement and some wiring.

I'm aware of that, I'm asking if there really was a fire on the FAL. I believe the reports said it was just an accidental deployment of fire suppression systems.

No actual fire. Those systems false trigger often.

I was replying why it needed time for repairs.

Egypt air is just now taking up two of their A220 in Montreal.
55081 and 55087.
Egypt Air A220-300 SU-GEX (55058) has flown on 22-Jul from Cairo over Dublin to Montreal, seems to have carried the crews and the Egypt Air team, to take up the planes. The jet is now back on the way to Cairo over Dublin again.
https://www.flightradar24.com/data/aircraft/su-gex#250605ab

55081 has performed the Customer Acceptance flight on 23-Jul-2020,
https://aibfamily.flights/A220/55081
55087 has performed the second flight on 24-Jul-2020.
https://aibfamily.flights/A220/55087

In Montreal, jets are also delivered on Saturdays. Perhaps we will see the first delivery flight soon.
Delta has now 7 A220 planes, who have performed test flights, 5 of them are ready to be taken up.
Egypt air is able to fly around the world, to take up their planes, but Delta is not willed to taken up even the first A220-300 in Mobile...

Today, two A220-300 have been delivered.
A220-300, EgyptAir, C-FOVH, SU-GFH (MSN 55087)

https://aibfamily.flights/A220/55087
and
A220-300, Air Canada, C-GJYC, C-GJYC (MSN 55090)

https://aibfamily.flights/A220/55090

Interestingly, the "older" of both A220-300, of EgyptAir, MSN 55981, is still not delivered. It has had already 5 flights, of them already two Customer acceptance flights. Seems something went wrong?
https://aibfamily.flights/A220/55081
I still hope, we will see the delivery in Jul-2020 (so today or tomorrow).

Now 5x A220-100 and 2x A220-300 are waiting to be delivered/taken up to/by Delta Airlines, additional one A220-300 (55081) for EgyptAir and one A220-300 for AirBaltic (55086). AitBaltic has already confirmed, they will take up 3x additional A220-300 till end of this year (but seems earliest starting in Sep-2020). Delta Airlines are just not taking up any planes now.

Each of Air Canada and EygyptAir flew one each out of YMX today. For EygyptAir, it was 55087 before 55081. Perhaps 55081 will leave shortly also.
The Air Canada delivery of 55090 was likely earlier this week when it moved from the AirBus facility to another facility at a different area of YMX.

Delta continues to hold on their backlog

Interesting outcome of the EgyptAir visit and possible reason why 55081 did not leave with 55087.

https://www.985fm.ca/nouvelles/sante/32 ... -a-mirabel (requires Google Translate).

Looks like the delegation did not follow quarantine. I was wondering how 55087 left prior to required 14 day quarantine.
