The Pope flew in a chartered American Airlines B777-200ER between NYC and PHL and back to Rome at the end of the visit if that's your question.

Anyone know what was going on in PHL this morning (11/5) to cause a ton of diversions to ABE, AVP, IAD, EWR, and PIT? Seems like a nice weather day.

Is there a point where ILS can't be used anymore because of the dense fog or that the pilots didn't have certification for the ILS landing

BA PHL-LHR suspended for about a month starting on the 9th. Will be interesting if the cargo flights continue.

With the number of cases rising world wide and a lockdown in the UK it's makes senses. A U.S. shutdown might be coming then.

I was actually going to post about this the other day. When they just came back we loose them again granted for only about a month for now. Understandable though for what's going on over in the UK.

Meanwhile AA just restarted CLT-LHR. Wonder how long that's gonna last..

PHL-PAP as well from what looks to be December 14.

Can’t seem to find the aircraft though, but it’s likely the 767.

Great expansion by Eastern.

So what I will say is that I am not a ton surprised because they are based in the PHL burbs but I am not sure who is going to use them when legacies and ULCCs are overloaded on PHL-MIA/FLL. And I can't imagine there's a huge market for PHL-Haiti although I am kinda intrigued. Maybe they get some contracts with local l travel agencies to beef up those loads. Regardless, good to see adds during a pandemic.

This is all kinds of exciting? Indeed I hope its true. We shall see how the B767 will stand up against a B787. Swift Air was already flying to PHL for cargo flights. Wonder if that had influence on launching this route.

Eastern Airlines appears to have just added PHL-SDQ on top of MIA/PAP.

PHL-SDQ runs from December 15 to March 26 twice-weekly unless it hasn't been loaded past March.

For terminal operations I'm not sure but I'd assume A since they normally handle widebodies aircrafts. According to Eastern website here are the dates for the first flights

PHL-SDQ-PHL December 15th
PHL-PAP-PHL December 14th
PHL-MIA outbound December 17th
MIA-PHL Inbound December 13th

Just wondering, how'd you see which aircraft they're using for each flight? I can't seem to find the aircraft when doing a dummy booking on their website.

I noticed the flight # on the MIA sector is #734. I was hoping they would bring back the old EAL flight numbers. I used to take the L1011 and A300 on this route and the flight number was #35. Weird how we remember this stuff. Prior to that, it was #45 on a stretch DC-8! Anyway, it just feels really nostalgic to see EAL back in PHL flying south again.

Looks like AA is launching seasonal Saturday only non-stop flights from PHL to CZM. Google Flights show it running from February 13th to April 3rd, so only eight weeks but still nice to see AA adding these seasonal vacation destinations nonetheless.

It’s just slow nothing major has been happening IMO with PHL. Really biggest news this far is Eastern Airways beginning service and AA begin service to Cozumel next year. I’ll be creating a new 2021 thread next month

Nothing that exciting during the holiday cargo rush yet, but UPS is regularly sending 744 and 748s to PHL from CGN and SDF. There were 3/day a few days in the past week or two.

Just got back from the Florida Keys tonight and gotta say, B-C were looking pretty active. My outbound 787 to MIA on Friday was full and return from EYW today on A319 was probably 25%. It’s a lot of plane for a pretty remote destination but needless to say, not complaining about PTVs and power! Overall, I felt safe the entire time both in airports and on the planes. Makes me feel a lot better about traveling.

With boredom I did more dummy bookings and it looks like they pushed the PAP start of service to March 29th. We shall see what happens with scheduling as time gets closer. SDQ looks to stay on schedule as their bookings go all the way out to October.

So it seems to be quite the weekend for TATL slashing for PHL. With the AA reported cancellations and postponements, and now EI cutting PHL, I wouldn't be surprised to see LH follow suit, as well. It's quite disappointing that the time and effort to build up this station is going to naut.

Not that it means anything but in the nw schedule release PHL-LAX gets a 787 back beginning April. I used the A330 from both LAX and SFO before and what a difference going transcon. Hope this sticks.

Palms Springs also kicked off this weekend. I’d be curious how it went from a load standpoint.
