From the Inquirer
Quote:"An 18-story high traffic control tower will be built by the Clark International Airport Corp. (CIAC) for the Clark International Airport (CRK).
The P375-million tower will be the tallest in the country, CIAC President and Chief Executive Officer Aaron Aquino said in a statement.
Aquino said the control towers of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport and the Mactan-Cebu International Airport stand at 40 meters and 30m respectively."
That's roughly a third higher than NAIA
's...and more than twice the height of the tower at CEB
. Well, if the airport expansion in Clark proceeds as planned, it would really require a tall tower with a commanding view of the whole airfield development..... https://www.skyscrapercity.com/cdn-cgi/ ... ng.314892/
Going by Megawide/GMR
's lot allocation plan above, probable tower site could be at the south end of Lot-4b
Returning to the NAIA Redevelopment
proposal, its design brief may virtually be what Populous
had for KIX
.....https://populous.com/project/kansai-int ... al-airportPopulous’ design will enable Kansai International Airport to secure its long-term growth by making the best possible use of existing infrastructure and maximising commercial return in a cost efficient way.
- increase international capacity by 25% from 19.4 million passengers per year up to 30 million passengers per year
- increase the international departure lounge and retail offerings by 60%
- introduce world-first retail layouts based on passenger experiences and moods
- create a seamless passenger processing experience, and to
- provide an inspirational arrival experience to start each journey.
What's really challenging with Megawide/GMR
's scheme is scaling back and changing the satellite concourse
design to fit the new requirements without the whole development looking awkward in the end. As to Populous'
potential participation in the project, it all depends on their asking fee, how quickly they could do it...and the OP's and DOTr's perception of the idea. Whatever, it might be the first time explosive demolition of a large building would be done in the country to get rid of that PVH
relic fast (did they use it at Intercon and Mandarin too)?
