No. Despite what you're reading on other forums this is not a base.

Likely aircraft availability, the route was only recently extended to operate from March. Also, it's not 9 days - it's only 6x weekly.

Presumably shortage of 757s (maintenance?).

Okay, It did say further changes are likely so either it may be changed to a 757 or the 767 service will be extended. Anyway it's good to see the 767 again if only for a week and a bit.

the new arrivals that is international arrivals 2 is such a mess. Make it easier for people to arrive! Not harder! Secondly, I do not know how qatar airways are making a profit with their A350 flights to Doha and beyond. The flights were absolutely empty when i travelled with them recently. I think the A332/B787 is the perfect fit for this destination.

QR had a load factor of 75% in December on DOH-EDI which while isn’t at capacity is decent. I believe the route does well on the premium side too which is not surprising given how good QR’s business class is particularly on the A350.

This is really interesting and a bold move by Loganair. Any idea what equipment they’ll be flying? Lots of ERJs lying around the desert although how quickly can they be made operational? And aren’t they quite thirsty?

Or could we see Q400s in tartan?

It seems like Loganair will operate their new ATR72s on the SOU route with MAN and CWL on the E135/145 jets. And I believe EXT and NQY will see a mix of the types.

I wonder if loganair would be interested in flying to LHR at all? We need some more competition, EZY,BA have the monopoly. Trains are also in competition. We need to keep the prices down as i've seen prices jump overnight from Edinburgh to London on easyjet and BA.

Also since Flybe made Edinburgh into a hub, this will definitely be a dent in passenger numbers and also income to the airport somewhat.

Just recently went through the trail for the new xray scanners where liquids do not need to be removed. What an actual god send! If this tech gets completely ruled out. It would be amazing.

Hopefully it does come across the board worldwide because it is a nuisance having to deal with that

Do those scanners also allow you to keep laptops / tablets in your bag as well or do you still have to remove those?

Is that the same system they use at Schiphol? It’s So much better than mucking about with bags just now.

I've never been through Schiphol so i dont really know, however i can tell you the xray machine itself was cylindrical in shape and it was very big!

I had had a bizarre but amazing experience as Schiphol about 6 months ago. I’d been on a company night out and at the end of the night for a taxi to the airport.

Stepped inside. Was ushered through the security and one of those amazing all-in-one security machines and was in the Yotoel with about 10 minutes (airside).

In the morning I woke, showered and stepped right onto the plane. It was an amazing experience.

I might also say I was massively hungover and the host on the plane gave me a beer and two ibuprofen at no charge. I don’t make a habit of flying whilst hanging especially for work but what amazing service.

Emirates suspending Edinburgh operations till 30TH June apparently and the Glasgow flight down to one daily. Obviously due to the coronavirus. However I would not be surprised if Emirates does not come back to Edinburgh. Is there really that much demand to cater Qatar and Emirates.

I think we are about to see airports basically close. EDI has closed most F&B, all lounges and is only serving essential repatriation flights according to email received earlier today. UK Prime Minister and Scottish First Minister tonight both saying it's only essential travel connected with work or groceries now so British (and international) airports are going to be even more ghost towns very very soon.

Tomorrow's departures are already in meltdown. About 70% of flights are cancelled already and more will be. The only ones that seem to still be going ahead are the 'Essential Users flights' to the islands that are covered under the ADS.

Yup especially with the lock down. I dont get why the UK just closes its borders, flights from other countries are coming into EDI. Some are calling this Karma for EDI for all the ripping off they've done!
