3091 did a test hop on 12/28.
7109 scheduled to begin its ferry to SIN on Jan 1. Its most recent flight was 12/29, so unless any random segments appear shortly, the old config is completely out of service.

Re: Delta Aircraft Refurbishment Thread - 2020

Tue Dec 31, 2019 10:34 pm

Looks like the first 763ER will be going in for mods and is flying over to CAN today (31 Dec) - Ship 188 (N188DN) will be headed SEA-ANC-CAN later this evening. Does anyone know if they will be getting the same mods as the 764s (i.e., D1 conversion and adding Premium Select?) If so, what will be the configuration?

I would be very surprised if they did not get the full treatment, as to the configuration I would advise waiting.

C26Y+18W21Y151 as per the DL WB thread. Also per the DL WB thread, DL1 will remain relatively untouched.

Are you saying D1 in the 763 won't be the same what's installed in 764's ?

Scroll to a few posts down: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1411859&start=750

At least that was the plan five months ago: that no change to D1 is planned for the refresh.

How many frames that they won’t retire soon are they keeping back for the refurbs, and for how long?

Yep, we’re on the same page that it flew revenue flights on 1/1 (as well as 1/2). Looks like it’s flying a ferry to SAN today.

3830 ferried to GUS yesterday. Anyone know if it will get SSWs while it's there?

Will the A350’s be modified to incorporate Comfort+?
I just flew on a refurbished 777 and the Comfort+ cabin was huge.

I take it 763 mods have started. Odd they’re not on the list. When is the first scheduled for completion and is there a schedule for the remaining frames?

Now that we’re in 2020, is it looking more likely or less likely that the 717s will be equipped with AVOD?

Forgive me if this is already been definitively answered, or announced.
Did you know that a Boeing 717-200 is really a McDonnell Douglas MD95-30? ;-)

They're getting to the point of needing a mid-life refresh I would probably guess next year once all the MD-88/90 have been retired 717 replacement parts are as plentiful as their going to be, but it's not been officially announced.

Sorry if this has been covered before, I looked but couldn't find anything. Is there any information on refurb of the A330-200 / -300... timing, configurations, etc? I assume the -300s will be the same as the -900s? TIA

Dang, they’re retrofitting these planes quick. They’ll probably finish before summer.

I believe 16-17 can be done before summer given the current pace (one ship takes a little over two months). The remainder will be converted next winter.

All of the frames will be completed by August. 7 will be completed by May and then 1 a month done until all are complete. The 2 month conversion you are seeing now is because they are also getting a heavy check in them. With the remaining 10 to go in, only 2 of those are scheduled for heavy checks and the remaining 8 will only get the refresh which takes ~30 days.

Has the Corona virus impacted the mods being done at CAN?

Any update as to when the 3744-3773 737-800s with the old Panasonic IFE will receive a cabin refresh? Some of those birds are starting to look pretty tired nowadays, and provide an inconsistent customer experience compared to other fleet types with modern IFE, such as the 737-900ER and A220.

Was just on 3749 the other day and thought exactly this. The seat definitely felt old like the ex-NW 757s prior to those cabins being re-done. Those ships should've gotten the same seats as the other 738s.

It's February already. With summer flying on the horizon, 321neos delayed, A220-300 delivery rates unproven, MD-88s going away, and MAXs grounded, they're not going to start a 738 refurb program this year, IMHO.

What's MAX grounding got to do with Delta?
I don't understand everything I don't know about this.

It's pushing up the prices and load factors and other carriers are spilling traffic to Delta because of it.

Well, they've been covering some AM flying since AM has had their MAX fleet grounded. Particularly LAX-MEX, but I think some JFK-MEX and maybe DTW-MEX as well. Just because DL doesn't have their own MAXs, doesn't mean they aren't feeling the crunch at all.
This is my signature until I think of a better one.

Spot on. Nothing is going to change for the time being. I agree with the other posters, though, that those seats are garbage, and I think the worst in the fleet - which is particularly bad because the -800s fly a lot of long routes.

Valid points and I wasn't expecting them to do a program this year, I was saying they should've just put in new seats with the prior cabin mods.

With DL's relatively low fleet utilization in the off-peak seasons, the only major limiting factor towards a 738 refresh is the desire to spend the money for it. A few AM cover flights and a few delayed narrowbodies isn't going to stop an airline with hundreds of narrowbodies to carve out time for a few dozen to get a refresh. If they wanted to, they would get it done. They don't want to yet. And there's nothing wrong with that. It doesn't need a cover story.
