Anyone know why NK has been using a Miami air 738 on their ORD-RSW morning departures?

With DL's announcement TPA-MIA, curious if DL & HCAA will add Gate E63 and reconfigure gates E62 & E64. E63 was not part of the Airside E rebuild to allow DL to park 767s at E62 and E64 back in 2002 when TPA-ATL was still majority 767s. Current assignments show DL using Gate E72 for RONs and morning departures, but will likely clash with F9/WS/AC using that gate.

There's a full house now at Airside E. Those extra TSA lanes which were open only during the winter/spring rush are now permanently open year-round. F9 high-density 321s will do that.

Yes, it's right next to the E62 doorway and has the standard gate number placard above the door, though it's unmarked. You can also see the door on Google Maps in 3D view.

Looks like the IAD-TPA 752 is only running on Tuesdays?

Excited to see the UA 772 at TPA. I've lived in TPA since 2013 and I believe this is the first scheduled domestic widebody service since I've lived here?

too bad you missed the days of DL 767s! I used to sit in a tug by the ground vehicle fuel rack and be thankful the largest thing I had to load was a 73G. But I do miss working there and seeing all the different airlines there from the mid 2000's,, and the wide variety of A/C.

Why is there (what looks like)a Dornier 328 flying the pattern in SRQ? First time seeing that aircraft. It’s incredibly quiet and very pretty, wish more were flying.

Was at the NW corner of field saw it come in and do a touch & go. I thought it was an ATR-42 !

Ah! Thank you! I saw it fly in an hour before and then while in the hot tub doing the pattern twice. I could barely hear the engines even though it was right above me. I thought the wing design was different so it raised my curiosity!

I flew a Pan Am 747 TPA-IAD in the early 80s. The first 747 I ever saw was a Northwest Orient example in Tampa around 1974. Wardair Canada also flew 747s from Toronto around that same time.

Yep...that would have been flight 106 TPA-IAD-LHR leaving from gate 70

Just saw PZL M-28 overflying Bradenton and now on final into SRQ. I know that one is used also by Special Ops as I did see it at the airshow in Tampa last year. 2 days ago saw the P-8 Poseidon overflying LECOM Park really low coming into SRQ. Pretty neat set of aircraft flying into SRQ last few days.

Thanks for the reply! I didn’t realize that the remaining 5 C-145(PZL M-28) we’re moved to Duke AFB years ago, are these also there? Because I didn’t see it at MacDill AFB air show last year.

At this point, with the recently announced UA cuts to domestic, not sure if this equipment swap will continue, but worth noting CO flew A300s in TPA-EWR from early-mid 90's.

Thanks for the link. Amazing to see so many jetway-less gates during that time, especially in old Airside C.

Also, saw in the TPA online flight boards that AC is now operating from Airside F, even though TPA still has them listed as operating from Airside E. Is this a temporary thing while COVID-19 is going on and DHS/CBP is taking additional measures to evaluate incoming pax?

Anyone have news on TPA's airside D? I assume with the COVID-19 outbreak, most infrastructure projects will be put on hiatus.

I know I didn't smoke anything when looking for flights SRQ-ORD but I saw in google/flights that Frontier is flying that route next 3 days?!?? So I checked on flightaware and those flights are in the system. Is that some kind of an error? SRQ website doesn't have the schedule for tomorrow yet.

Actually per the TPA website, the Blue side curbside arrivals is closed to speed up ongoing Phase 2 construction of the express curbside lanes.

New Airside D is part of Phase 3, which hasn't been executed yet, and will likely be impacted by demand decline as you noted by the outbreak.

RSW closed down terminal C effective yesterday. United moved to B and Delta to D

I read or saw that TPA's pax count is down 97%. Wow. I live about 15 miles due north of TPA, looking forward to seeing some traffic in the skies again hopefully sooner than later, sure is quiet these days. Almost seems like UPS, FedEx and Amazon flights count for as much as pax fllghts.

How often per week or month do they just have to touch the ground at the airport for accepting the loans from the CARES act?

Haha, ok I’ll take a bite. So Elite not surprised, was actually shocked to see their aircraft at the gate this past week making a flight!

Now for JetBlue, I don’t remember seeing SRQ in the first batch of airports when they were talking about discontinuing services. Even with the stop in MCO wouldn’t they be in the best position to get most of the traffic to NYC as they are the only ones taking reservations up there (I mean almost nonstop). They could just make it nonstop again if the bookings are good. I mean NYC is about to wake up again, and the hotels here are getting packed!

On a side note, after Delta messing up my ecredit and making flights so expensive I had to pick another choice, I’m disappointed as I hoped for my one and only and last flight on the MD-88. After years of begging to get an affordable service to Chicago, Frontier did this cool SRQ-MCO-ORD routing so I’m flying them. First time on Frontier for me.

With that the fact that Delta is charging premium prices and bringing up service to 4 flights a day in June from mostly 2 daily now is a good sign for SRQ.

Thank you for the correction, yes that’s the month, not sure why I said June when I was looking for flights in July. I got the MD-90 and 717 so a bit sad I’ll miss out on 88. Glad that we will still get the 717s in at least for a bit.

MD-90 is gone June 2 also.

I see Elite has already removed SRQ...PWM as well.....they're down to just EWR & VRB

I'll be on the 0845 MD-88 departure to ATL in a few days. Fortunately connecting to PHL on another MD-88 so I get two more legs. Living in Lakewood Ranch right now though, I've enjoyed having the occasional MD-88 come in over our house when landing on 32 (though more often than not, it's an Eagle CR9 or an Allegiant Airbus flying overhead).
