Thanks for posting that 727Lover! I was going to make a post few days ago about AA returns to SRQ. And just seeings today’s update with Delta I think there is hope for SRQ to get back up there, but I do have a question. Where is United in all of this? Only a daily ORD flight? For how long?

SRQ
Delta
To ATL from 3 daily in June, 4 in July to 5 in August
DTW for July is a 0 and New York?

AA
To Charlotte 3 daily in July
To PHL 4x weekly in July?
DCA, DFW and LGA are coming back in July too according to this article and I have seen the connections when booking a flight to ORD. I did not see them in the weekly updates from Eniliria?

Any new updates from G4? I think they are bringing seasonal RFW in August.

How long until AS moves to Airside F to join their AA friends at TPA? In the olden times, is there room for them there during peak season?

Nonstop service between LAX and RSW will be welcome once this virus situation is under good control. Great flight times in both directions .... no before sunrise departures, no redeye!

Interesting Youtube video showing a walkaround at TPA in late June 2020. Noticed the ticket counters are being remodeled and removing the black signage overhang depicting the carrier name that has been a familiar sight for many years.

Pre-COVID19 would have been a tight fit at F, since BA/LH/D8/WK widebody gate usage would have resulted in another gate being blocked. AA has even used overflow gates at Airside E.

EDIT: Actually in the previous Youtube video link, AA is using gate E73 at the 14:06 time marker! Looks like roof repair/replacement construction at Airside F blocking some gates.

When I worked for Jeppesen and Boeing I brought the Dreamliner in a couple of times. Boeing wanted to bring in the 747-800 for flight testing but the airport said no. The PCN of the runway wasn't high enough and the two outboard engines end up throwing FOD all over the runway upon departure. So who is bringing it in and when?

For what it's worth. TPA right now has 44 active non-stop destinations and PIE has 53 active non-stop destination. Probably the last time that'll ever happen.

One can see DL 772's at TPA as the Bucs are using them for their charters. Two weeks ago one just sat parked at the gate for two weeks. The LA Chargers will be flying in later tonight on one and most likely it will stay parked at the gate until after the game on Sunday.

All these adds are great news for SWFL. Airlines are started to really think again. I've been calling for intra-state routes forever, and while i dislike WN and feel this should be B6 territory to run, seeing them start RSW-MCO is a step in the right direction. Lots of love for RSW right now, and even SRQ, you'd think DL would finally send at least one daily 9 month a year A321 or even A319 DTW-SRQ. NW packed one to two DC9-50's and at times 727's for decades.

Anyway, loving the good news. Nice move Alaska as well. Another opportunity for B6 to jump in there and show they are the official carrier of Florida, lets see if they do. None of us west-coasters can support them without connectivity to FLL/MCO or nonstops.
I haven't been everywhere, but it's on my list!

Bradenton Herald has an article about a new gate wing for the terminal at SRQ, but it’s behind a paywall. Anyone has some info about it? I have heard rumors about it since last year, at some point the airport was getting close to 50% capacity at times hopefully it will get back to it soon.

Also was neat to have taxied on taxiway C by Rectrix few weeks ago. Didn’t realize that skinny taxiway was rated for weight of an A320.

Article stated that once the airport hit 2.5M pax which was forecast for 2020 it would trigger a study on adding the additional concourse. Obviously that won't happen. SRQ can't catch a break, every time they approach record numbers the economy takes a big dump. You can forecast recessions by it.

Thank you for that info, and yes it is unfortunate.
I’m actually flying out of SRQ to Dallas on my way to Mexico and it’s definitely a busy little airport right now. 11 departures in a 3.5 hour window and September had 53% of passengers compared to last year so it is definitely improving. And I’m happy to help contribute to those numbers haha, for Tampa too.

Interesting takeoff pattern out of TPA today (11/11/20) with the tropical system Eta in the Gulf of Mexico.

Looks like ops out of KPIE may have stopped. G4 761 AVL-PIE diverted to SFB after holding extensively.

Runway 10 at TPA in use for takeoffs for Silver Airways & bizjets.

Im hoping all these routes will stay especially after what might be a bloodbath of cuts for January and February. Florida might still be the bright spot like in the summer, here’s hoping.

Does anyone know how Frontier ended up with the few extra destinations in the the summer on Saturday or Sundays? I would have thought they would have kept some of the flights, but for now they are only flying to Cleveland.

So JetBlue is moving in the terminal at SRQ as per aviationpros.com for Southwest to take their place. Does that mean Southwest is taking gate B5 or ticketing, or both.

Also could Westjet be returning to SRQ since the JV with Delta is now over?

What will the gate situation be after Southwest arrives?
B1&3 - AA
B5 -Jet Blue
B7,9,11 Allegiant

B4&6 Delta
B8 empty / Intl arrivals gate
B10 empty
B12 United
B14 empty

What gates for Southwest, Frontier, Air Canada (when they return), Sun Country?

It's going to be a busy winter and spring.

Random Q - but for B8 at SRQ, does that lead to a separate FIS area on the 'gound' level like at TPA or are they able to 'secure' that gate area for CBP processing if an international flight comes in. Flying AA i never make it too far down the concourse.

The FIS is on ground level in a room that can handle 200 passengers per hour. The agents have to be called in but I don’t remember how many hours before a flight.

Is it even available to have flights out of that gate? Usually it’s just a few business jets per week. I have only seen a Delta airplane once at that gate.

B10 is also a United gate, we have both B10 and B12. Frontier has been mostly on B14 and Sun Country has also been operating off of B14 the last few times I've seen them at SRQ.

United has used the gate on occasion when we've had extra sections due to holidays...we used B8 last Thanksgiving and Christmas for RONs.

Updated?
1&3 - AA
B5 -Jet Blue
B7,9,11 Allegiant

B2 - Empty
B4&6 Delta
B8 empty / Intl arrivals gate /
B10 empty, occasional United
B12 United
B14 Frontier / Sun Country

Looking at WN, seems like they will RON 2 aircraft. What gates are they expected to use? If WN moves to B8 what happens when international arrivals (private) need to utilize that gate? Park adjacent at 10 and walk over?

Nice! Almost like how United did Denver flights for spring break last year on Saturdays and soon it will be a regular destination.

I’m surprised there are no welcome banners for Southwest like there were for other new airlines and cities at SRQ!!
