Purely anecdotal but I just did a PIT-LAX-PIT r/t on NK as part of a larger itinerary. Outbound about 100 empty seats, although it was Superbowl Sunday. But the return was not much better, I'd say about half empty. Not very encouraging.
I was on the flight with you on Sunday lol. 93 open is what I was told by a buddy when i asked for the loads the day prior.

However when I flew it this past Thursday, there was only 10-15 open, if that. Never did fly it east bound so I couldn’t say with those.

It would be truly awesome if someone would express interest in opening a focus city at PIT, something that would warrant keeping the knuckles open, but I'm not seeing that happening. Maybe AS might add a destination or two, but I doubt it. I'm not exactly holding my breath for someone like Contour or Breeze either. There's discussion in another thread about AA possibly building up some of their non-hub markets, but they seem to be doing so with RDU and BOS to a degree. That kinda makes sense, altho they'd be going head to head with DL at both RDU and BOS.

That said, Pittsburgh may not be as large of a tech hub like BOS, RDU, or AUS, but it is growing. Hopefully it won't be too long before it turns someone's head...

UA updated their June schedule earlier today. Both SFO flights are getting upgraded to 739s and DEN is being increased back up to 3x daily flights.

Seems like the UA increase on DEN-PIT could be due to the WN cut on the same route, or vice-versa.

Speaking of cuts, AA decreasing PHX-PIT to 1x daily and WN dropping it completely is just asking for G4 to launch AZA-PIT.

I'm thinking UA is routing some of those passengers through DEN with that added frequency. I imagine there are some viable connection options through there. I was about to say the same thing about upgauging PIT-SFO, but anyone bound for PHX on those flights would have to back-track. So I'm thinking that probably to accommodate higher local traffic or more Asia-bound travelers...

I would be surprised if Denver drops below 3x daily from this point on. The loads are always high, and UA is really trying to scale up out there.

Here's a good timeline for the TMP works:

I didn't realize taxiway B would be closed for the duration, but it doesn't look like it will have an impact on normal airfield operations:

Amazon is reportedly eyeing the former Westinghouse campus in Churchill. If true this would be their 3rd local new distribution center announced within a year:

I think I read somewhere that G4 still does not overnight crews so any route needs to be a turn. PIT-LAS/AZA could have happened long ago if it was a bit shorter. The most likely is AA just maintain 2x daily.

I'm guessing 28R would be used for takeoffs and maybe landings, provided no aircraft would need that taxiway for repositioning? I suppose they could just taxi down the runway and then navigate a very tight U-ie right at the end of the runway. I forget if that's a 150-foot or 200-foot-wide runway...

BA170 departed 11 hours late this morning. Any particular reason why?

FWIW today’s flight has been swapped to the -9.

Some good news. G4 AUS-PIT is showing up through to the end of the booking window (last bookable flight is currently Sep 4th). The season ended Aug 11th last year, so either it's getting an extension or it's reverting back to year-round.
