Can't say I'm surprised to see G4 expanding at FAR. For a long time, they were the only carrier to the Phoenix area (a popular destination for North Dakota snowbirds) running year-round including 2x daily during the winter. In 2019, F9 and AA (mainline) added seasonal daily service giving them some strong competition. A bit surprised it is BNA, but not surprised to see G4 wanting to regain some market share in Fargo.

My thoughts as well. Surprised they did not jump on SDF/MEM-BOS. Maybe they expected retaliation from the legacy carriers if they did that??

BNA isn't the leisure attraction MCO is, nor NYC or LAX. I don't see how they can make BZN, FSD or FAR work, even with low frequency. GSO-BNA strikes me as a route to drive by the thrifty.

DAB-BWI/EWR/PIT/BNA/MDW/IND aka all places they they have competition from MCO

I believe there are only 2 other red-eyes in the Allegiant system.

If the demand was actually there for additional nonstop service to Chicago from DSM, WN could have re-added DSM-MDW nonstop service or F9 could have added DSM-ORD nonstop service.
One of the reasons why WN dropped DSM-MDW nonstop service was that most of the passengers on WN's DSM-MDW nonstop flights were connecting to other destinations.
I am unsure if G4 will be able to sustain DSM-MDW nonstop service if WN didn't have enough O&D traffic to sustain DSM-MDW nonstop service, but at least (a) G4 doesn't sell any connecting flights, (b) G4 DSM-MDW nonstop service will only be operating on Sundays and Thursdays whereas WN had daily nonstop service to MDW from DSM prior to dropping DSM-MDW nonstop service, and (c) G4 is charging lower fares on DSM-MDW than WN did on DSM-MDW 4 years ago.

If they now view Memphis as a destination and not an origination station and that is the only way you explain DSM service, when will they make Memphis a base? I also would point out to Allegaint that if that is their thinking, why are they starting this late? The biggest event in Memphis is Memphis in May and the biggest two events of that month long event take place in May before these services start. They need to start the last week of April. I also would like to point out other events that bring in folks from all over happen in irregular times. For example, Jan.

I was wondering if I was the only one thinking that. Memphis in May is the main event of Memphis. That's when tourists, esp. younger adults who are less likely to drive in, will be coming to memphis

Also keep in mind that Peoria is the only city (so far) in the region getting this service, so it will probably attract passengers from nearby Bloomington-Normal and possibly the Quad Cities area.
mrdj007 wrote:Is Allegiant terminating SJU service from SFB? Last week I was able to book until August 2020 (schedules were loaded through August) and now with the recent schedule update extension through November, flights to SJU from SFB only appear until May 04, 2020. Last year they cut RDU due poor demand. At the moment I don't know if PIT and CVG were cut do the same reason or if they are suspended and will be available for the 2020-2021 winter season. In the past I've read here in Airliners that G4 wanted to operate IND-SJU. Does anybody know if the airline is terminating SJU service? Thanks a lot!
