Any predictions for 2020?

I think we may see a new airline at DAB or at least a new airline announced.

If DAB gets new air service, it'll most likely be announced in the October-November timeframe as most new services start there in January or February. I have a feeling AA may go daily on LGA-DAB if they have the slots, and I would not be surprised to see their mainline upgauge go year round.

That upgauge is intriguing because it's not a RON, but a mid-day turn. DL typically sends the big metal (757, 321, 739) on the last flight in/first flight out.

I'm wondering about a new destination for a legacy given MLB got DCA and PHL and, at one point, the service parallels between the two airports were striking. I'd like to hope the DTW-DAB one-off for the 500 is a test balloon, but that's probably too much to expect.

Maybe AA announces PHL from DAB or takes LGA daily but I think UA will make a move back into DAB with a flight to EWR.

Would love to see either UAX start GNV-EWR/IAD, or DL/AA startup GNV-LGA. Honestly, any NYC or DC flight would do well here IMO.

Depends on how much of PMUA management is still at the helms. If there are enough there, you won't see UA at DAB anytime soon. They'd still be bitter about their subsidies going to AirTran. However, DAB's management has changed a lot since then too.

As for DTW, I for one think DTW may be a good add, and I think the 717 is the right aircraft for the job. A mid day flight would do well to grab feed from the morning bank of arrivals into DTW, and DAB is a popular destination for those in the Great Lakes region.

Although they have been upgauging aircraft quite a bit at DTW, I couldn't see anything larger than a E75/CR9 if they add. Heck JAX was a CR9 for years until last year. Now its 2x 739.

Speaking of JAX, I believe the airport eclipsed 7mm in pax for another record breaking year. I do believe things will slow down a bit for a couple of reasons:

1) JAX lost several routes starting Q1 of 2020 WN to DAL and FLL, B6 to DCA, a slew of F9 routes and G4 routes.
2) Only added 2 routes in 2019 DL to RDU and G4 to GRR
3) nothing announced for 2020

I have hope either DL to LAX or AS to SEA will be announced this year.

JAX is also finalizing the designs for the 3rd concourse and will most likely start construction by end of the year.

I agree that DL adding JAX-LAX nonstop service is a possibility (even though this route could also be added by WN, AA, or NK if DL doesn't add JAX-LAX nonstop service) with JAX being one of the top destinations not currently served nonstop from JAX.

I also agree that AS adding JAX-SEA nonstop service is a possibility with SEA being one of the top destinations not currently served nonstop from JAX.

WN adding JAX-SAN nonstop service might be a possibility once WN gets enough additional planes in its fleet with SAN being one of the top destinations not currently served nonstop from JAX.

NK adding JAX-DFW and JAX-MSP nonstop service is a possibility with JAX-DFW no longer having nonstop competition, JAX-MSP not currently having any nonstop competition, and NK having a significant presence at both DFW and MSP. There are also some other nonstop routes that could possibly be added by NK out of JAX such as JAX-ATL, JAX-BOS, JAX-LAS, and JAX-EWR.

DAB is going back up to 7 daily flights- I think the split is 4 DL/3 AA.

Also, a News-Journal article indicated one of AA's flight is going back to a plane with "57 more seats", which I'm taking to mean an upgauge from a CR9 to 319.

AA just announced DAB-DFW and PHL: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1451443

DFW is on a CR9, PHL is a CR7, both daily beginning in December.

What are DL's gate plans at DAB? It looks like they're using 4 and 6 even with the renovations apparently complete. I liked the short walk to Gate 2.

Once they get a few A220’s under their belt, I could definitely see them running 2-3 flights a day into DAB again.

As much as I would like to see them come into MLB, I doubt it will be anytime soon, if at all.
