It seems to happen quite a lot with the Dash 8s.

I'm not sure I'd call it a design fault per se, but perhaps a sensitivity?

It reminds me one of the episodes from polish comedy series taken in 1986. Series was a funny commedy about comunism in Poland.
Maintenance worker was hit by a sigle loose aicraft wheel when working on the runway after An-24 departure and noticed tower about it. Tower immediately informed a/c crew " Gdansk, dump the fuel, you have to return back, you lost a wheel" (actually An-24 has no fuel dump capability). Aicraft; "Ok, confirmed, we gonna dump the fuel over Kabaty and return to the airport". Once they landed it turns out that they have all wheels present and one of the worker asked: "who lost a wheel then?", another worker said "who knows, maybe Wroclaw?"

It does not look funny but I would like to see video of actual landing...

Guess landing was uneventful, since lack of video for that....

Air Canada is becoming a frequent occurence in relation to such incidents... what's going on?

I hope they change the remaining tire since if the tire has a flat or falls off on the same axle. I wonder if the pilots saw the wheel bounce down the runway or if the flight attendant told them? If they were told, was the reaction, " No way, ay?" Regardless, the captain held off landing on that side until it slowed down. Great job from the flight crew...

In one of the earlier videos, you can see the sparks when taxi-ing towards the active.
You would’ve thought that those videoing this event might have chirped up a bit before lining up to depart.????

Clearly the fire suppression regime kicked in.

Actually, no it isn't. It was Jazz, wholly owned by Chorus Aviation. They have a capacity agreement with Air Canada, and can use the brand "Air Canada Express", but it's definitely a completely different company and AOC.

So with the hub sparking like that, what kind of failure was this? Would the flight deck have gotten a notification?

I’ve seen videos of loose tires on highways absolutely demolishing unsuspecting cars upon collision. I cannot even imagine what kind of damage an aircraft tire landing onto a roof/ vehicle or even rolling at TO speeds into something would do.
