Royal Air Maroc 787 stuck at LHR

Tue Jan 07, 2020 3:30 pm

CN-RGC is parked up at Heathrow after failing to depart on Monday's scheduled AT801. Does anyone know what happened?

Don't know why such a big plane is needed for this route. A narrowbody would be a better fit. B737?

The same reason LHR attract more local sub 6 hours W/B that most if not all other Europe Airports

Slot Restrictions & Capacity needs pax/cargo or both
Must think up a new one soon, slow moving brain trying to get into gear ;)

I must admit I am also surprised to read it, I would have rather expected them to fly widebodies to MRS, PAR, BRU, AMS, countries with larger Moroccan diaspora. But that said, RAM is close to joining OneWorld and I can imagine them rolling out codeshares with BA and vv, maybe they test the waters already. Plus with the Max not delivered and having received quite some 787s I can imagine they put them on busier 737 flights.
nobody has ever died from hard work, but why take the risk?

Lots of pax and cargo between Morocco and UK that may necessitate more than just a 737

Slots at LHR pushing RAM to consolidate operations to a larger aircraft

Better use of 737s elsewhere

787 may just sit idle during that time anyways

They often use 787 to ORY with up to 2 daily widebodies during summer. Istanbul see almost daily 787 and BRU/AMS have occasional 787 flights.
LHR is usually 737 but I guess there is a high demand currently as the 787 is scheduled only during the first 2 weeks of January.

The 787 has been operating 4 or 5 times a week since 11th December
