GOL expects 16 MAX to be delivered this year, wants the MAX to be back in April

Tue Jan 14, 2020 1:51 pm

Interesting.

Gol remains hopeful that the 737 Max 8 will be back in service, but admits it could run out of Boeing jet until July, Celso Ferrer, the airline’s vice president of operations, said at a conference on Thursday. The executive acknowledged that during the low season the new aircraft is not essential, however, the company makes plans to operate again from April. About Max, should Boeing be able to resume deliveries, Gol is expected to receive 16 aircraft by 2020 that are finalised. Added to the 7 aircraft already delivered, the company will end the year with 23 model units, capable of carrying 186 passengers. By 2024 there will be 51 planes that are expected to withdraw part of the older Boeing aircraft.

Good answer from the airline. But will the MAX will still be grounded beyond July 2020?

If it's not Boeing, I'm not going!

GOL is one of many who wishes the MAX is returned soon but likely has absolutely no influence on the matter.

I am interested to see when the purchasing decisions of different airlines are reflected in the financial reporting. Comparing an EasyJet to a Ryanair or such similar pairings around the world, will become interesting if this drags on much longer.

That was exactly my thought...
Is this Aviation Guru the only one who wants the MAX back in the air???

Slow news day...

Yup. They can wish all they want. It's highly unlikely it'll be back by April. Not even the FAA will solely decide the MAX's fate. TC, EASA, CAAC, etc. will make their own call before it flies again.

April is a pipedream. Let's see how many GOL passengers sign up for the Self Crashing Boeing 737 Max 8

I’m going assign this article the same relevance of an airline saying “we expect to make bigger profits”.

good luck with that pipe dream. It'll be at least summer (north america) before these planes get off the ground.
