Corsair to serve JFK instead of EWR

Wed Jan 15, 2020 4:41 pm

Corsair will start flights to New York next June and plans were to operate to/from EWR, however the company has decided to change for JFK. No real reason was given for that but the reporter noticed that Corsair is to operate out of Terminal 1 at JFK, the same as AF...

Originally flights should have flown: ORY 18:00 - EWR 20:25 / 22:45 - ORY 12:00, now they are planned to operate as follow: ORY 15:20 - JFK 18:00 / 20:00 - ORY 09:30. From September the route will be served with an A339 configured in three classes.

So they will compete with AF and NAX out of the same terminal on the JFK > Paris market, plus DL and AA.

There should have been six airlines on the market, but XL has gone bust in the meantime. Still, it's a lot of seats between the two cities.

I would guess they simply liked the timing of the JFK slots better.
This is my signature until I think of a better one.

The Corsair flights will literally depart within 10 minutes of the AF ORY-JFK-ORY flights on both ends...

AF019 JFK 1950 ORY 0930+
SS917 JFK 2000 ORY 0930+

AF032 ORY 1510 JFK 1745
SS916 ORY 1520 JFK 1800

There will be a total of 9 airlines competing this summer in the NYC-PAR market (or 8 if you consider AF and DL to be one) with 17 flights a day:

AF023 JFK 1630 CDG 0555+ 772
AF015 JFK 1730 CDG 0655+ 77W
AA044 JFK 1810 CDG 0745+ 772
DL262 JFK 1830 CDG 0805+ 333
UA057 EWR 1835 CDG 0745+ 781
B0101 EWR 1900 ORY 0840+ 321
AF007 JFK 1930 CDG 0910+ 77W
AF019 JFK 1950 ORY 0930+ 772
SS917 JFK 2000 ORY 0930+ 332/339
DL264 JFK 2045 CDG 1020+ 333
UA054 EWR 2125 CDG 1055+ 763
AF011 JFK 2130 CDG 1100+ 388
B0103 EWR 2140 ORY 1100+ 321
IB2690 EWR 2200 ORY 1120+ 332
DY7022 JFK 2315 CDG 1220+ 789
AF009 JFK 2350 CDG 1315+ 772
BF721 EWR 2355 ORY 1320+ 359

AF is even adding another JFK-CDG rotation so AF/DL will have an almost-shuttle like schedule on JFK-CDG with departures at 1630, 1730, 1830, 1930, 2045, 2130, and 2350, in addition to the AF JFK-ORY flight at 1950. In summary, NYC-PAR will see:

JFK-CDG:
AF - 5
DL - 2
AA - 1
DY - 1

JFK-ORY:
AF - 1
SS - 1

EWR-CDG:
UA - 2

EWR-ORY:
B0 - 2
IB - 1
BF - 1

Disappointing idiotic choice by the airline. EWR is the way to go unless you want to jump in a bloodbath and throw yourself under,

As if EWR weren't competing with JFK already for TATL traffic.

You think it’s just a coincidence that Openskies, FrenchBee, and La Compagnie all chose EWR? It’s not, the demand is there from EWR while JFK has CDG.

And French Bee is launching ORY-EWR also, so with La Compagnie and UA (which usually flies 2 x daily in peak season) that is indeed a lot of seats. Guessing it will all be fine in the summer but come winter, it will be a lot of seats to fill.

Actually, Norwegian will be-although only 3x per week.
They have been operating this flight, for the busy Xmas season.

French Bee??? That’s the stupidest name I have ever heard for an airline. I wish it luck in stinging UA, though.

Meanwhile, I don’t understand why more low-cost carriers haven’t launched PAR-LAX instead of PAR-NYC. Seems like there would be more opportunity there. PAR-SFO or PAR-OAK is also a candidate.

I guess SS will start serving the route with their four-class A333s before switching to the Neo.

I would be the first to purchase a ticket on a daytime NYC-CDG/ORY flight.

Actually, Norwegian is currently operating one right now 3x weekly for the winter season. DY7020 leaves JFK at 9:00AM and arrives at CDG at 9:50PM.

This is the first daytime NYC-PAR flight that I know of. Does anyone know if it's been done before?

EDIT: I now see that flyguy1 pointed this out several posts ago. Oops.

I am trying to take this CORSAIR flight in July. How much would be a reasonable price to pay for "basic" (no checked luggage)? Right now, full service airlines are between $650 to $700! Times are great. Is Corsair a reliable airline? What is its reputation? How is its financial status?

SS917 JFK 2000 ORY 0930+
SS916 ORY 1520 JFK 1800

Separately, does corsair weigh hand baggage?

If I were you I would try FrenchBee for a more consistent experience. Is EWR an option for you?

Yes, I got scared off with the CORSAIR reviews. Numerous complaints including cancelled flights. I hope French Bee doesn't do that. How long has French Bee been in operation?

2016, if you’re nervous about them Level is cheap and pretty reliable. I would go with FrenchBee though, you got an A350, pretty cheap prices and not a terrible experience.

Levels part of IAG so their not likely to go bankrupt on short notice, and have options if they have to cancel

On Corsair even with basic fare you'll get free meals and drinks, free blanket and night kit, on FrenchBee basic fare you'll have to pay for all that.
I'm not aware of Corsair cancelling flights on a regular basis, and I live near Orly so I see them on flightradar a lot.

Plus if you can upgrade to their grand large premium economy you'll definitely see how good the value for money is.
