Davos WEF 2020 thread

Tue Jan 21, 2020 10:57 am

Hi all...thought it might be useful to have a thread on the more interesting movements in ZRH and surrounding airports in connection with the Davos WEF meeting this week.

ZRH airport has a very nice Facebook timeline, where they announce some of the more interesting birds like AF1, C17's etc with approx time of arrivals. Might be worth looking at that.
flown: F50,F70,CR1,CR2,CR9,223,E75,E90,143,AR8,AR1,733,735,736,73G,738,

State Chiefs coming with huge, polluting planes (watch those beautiful A345s coming with 30 to 40 people onboard) and moving with polluting cars (maybe the less important one will travel electric, who knows; surely the President of the US of A will not) and / or helicopters, staying in heated hotels, consuming polluting food to discuss how to pollute less...
they will talk for two days filling their mouth wih high hopes and big words and "there is no planet b" and other b*******t and making absolutely nothing...

back on topic... there will be surely some interesting bird in Zürich... hopefully the Turkish Dictator will use his beautiful A345... our President will use the 30 year old Falcon 200EX or the A319...
Hopefully the German A343 will start... and the Canadian A313, also a rare sight...
Aeroplane flies high
Turns left, looks right

Good idea. It would be great to have a list of all the governmental and private jets plus military, well, simply all rarities! Jetstream (does anybody remember?) always had such a nice list (which, at that time, was consierably shorter...).

I agree. This event seems to be outdated, old-fashioned and useless ..... EXCEPT FOR PLANESPOTTERS!!!! :bouncy:

Yeah, perhaps just as well Greta Thunberg isn't a spotter ! Hope for some nice pics here since there should be loads of enthusiasts about.

Merkel usually flies into FDH and takes the Heli from there. Easier to operate for the Flugbereitschaft.

ACH gets a good amount of movements as well, as ZRH can become really busy and parking space is very limited (and super expensive). I wonder if there will be a few also flying to SMV if they find enough pilots who are able to fly there. Really impressive to see bigger birds there when they have to spool up their engines to the max before releasing the breaks.

To my knowledge the main airports are ZRH, ACH (which does 10% of their revenue during those days), LSMD (Dübendorf) and FDH.

Wow, some strong opinions in here...

Hopefully no blizzards in Switzerland to wreck the spotting.
