A320neo Family Aircraft purchased by US airlines

Wed Jan 29, 2020 3:24 pm

In addition to the 668 purchased NEOS, there are an additional 18 that are being leased
Neo = A320neo + A321neo @Dec 2019
214 = 147 + 67 FRONTIER AIRLINES
120 = 0 + 120 AMERICAN AIRLINES
100 = 0 + 100 DELTA AIR LINES
85 = 0 + 85 JETBLUE AIRWAYS
50 = 0 + 50 UNITED AIRLINES
43 = 43 + 0 SPIRIT AIRLINES
40 = 30 + 10 VIRGIN AMERICA→ ALASKA
16 = 0 + 16 HAWAIIAN AIRLINES
668 = 220 + 438 All Neos

In contrast there are only 549 MAXs ordered by US Airlines
280 Southwest Airlines
137 United Airlines
100 American Airlines
32 Alaska Airlines
549

Spirit says they are considering some larger Boeing jets as well as the A321neo. Personally, I think the odds of them buying Dreamliners are about zero.

All the US airlines together are closing in on INDIGO who has ordered 720 NEOS. Do you think they will pass INDIGO?

For a second I thought Neos (the airline) was purchased by U.S. airlines, lol.

What do you mean what is the point? I think it’s rather obvious what the OPs point is lol.
I had no idea Frontier had so many Neos on order. Wow.

Airbus will have a giant headache on how to deal with Trump's tariffs, if they don't expand the Mobile FAL.

What is the production rate at Mobile? Excited to see the A321neos assembled in Mobile.

I thought the question was how many US airlines have both the A320 and A321 NEO in their fleet or on order because the question referred to the NEO family. In that case it is only Frontier Airlines. In any case, a nice thread :)

I think that we’ll see some additional orders from UA and maybe some top-off orders of DL and AA. But, it seems a bit irrelevant to compare the orders of a single company with the orders of a whole country.

Perhaps so.
Then the US airlines (not leasing companies) purchased 1,162 A320 family with the current engine option (A318,A319,A320,A321).

There seems to be little interest in the A320neo (except by Frontier and Spirit) but the A321neo is already ahead of the A321ceo by 438 to 429. Do you think the total number of neos will eventually surpass the ceos?

The most interesting, that I see, is the total amount of 321 ceo and neo purchased and ordered by North American Airlines is 25 % higher (877) than the 320 ceo and neo purchased and ordered (700) and these numbers are exeptionel globaly, there is no other continent where the 321 is the bestseller in the 320 family.

Northern America is vastly ordering the A321neo over the A320 neo. Asia is ordering slightly more.
Rest of the world is ordering more A320neo.

A320neo / A321neo Region
433 / 722 Northern America
1259 / 1357 Asia
331 / 213 Middle East
1138 / 714 Europe
333 / 159 Latin America
6 / 2 Africa
389 / 88 Undisclosed
7 / 0 Private

The "undisclosed" buyers may be swaying results as it is commony understood that Asian buyers often prefer to remain "undisclosed".
