Transavia puddle-jumping DUB-CWL

Fri Feb 07, 2020 9:33 am

I noticed that HV B738 PH-HZG has been jumping detween Cardiff and Dublin. I'm sure that this is connected to the rugby Six Nations championship, but who is she operating for?

Private Tour Operators probably. Theres a few in South Wales that specialise in sports trips, especially for the 6 nations.
Apparently the Welsh team used Blue Islands to head over yesterday.

Simple answer, but doesn't really answer the question in full. For sure, TO operate ORY-DUB but HV do not have any DUB ops. It's likely that it has been operating to accommodate the extra traffic for the Ireland v Wales game, but it is just as unlikely that anyone would know that a Dutch carrier would be operating these services unless they were offered under ACMI contract by another carrier. As DUB-CWL vv is not in their normal planning, who's the contractor, my original question still stands. Is it EI who have (for example) offered ASL, who have subsequently sub-contracted?

Now that makes more sense, hence they are operating only under HV designator.

As it is low season for Transavia they probably rented out the aircraft for this occasion.

What is so strange about an aircraft drafted in for additional 'sports' flights? Pribably a travel agent charter - an agency with a large sport division!

It's worth adding that Transavia can operate these flights as, for now, the UK is still deemed part of the deregulated intra-EU aviation market. What will be in place post-2020 remains to be seen.
