6,963 passengers means on average a grand total of 232,1 per day. They've been busy at YOW...

Yep and with an average of 18 movements per day (varied between 14 and 22 a day) that equated to about 13 pax per flight.

YAM - April & May

SSMADC has already drawn “a fair amount” from its reserves to cover expenses in April and May when passenger numbers plunged to 63 and 69, down more than 99 per cent from 2019 volume, said president and chief executive officer Terry Bos.

Only JV's been still flying to YAM.

The western airports, especially YEG (only a few thousand behind YUL), have certainly outperformed the eastern airports, not that it amounts to much. You can also really see how YOW was the 2nd most slashed major airport (= > 4M ppa) in North America.

The FBO traffic quite frankly doesn't count even though a lot of mining and oil workers pass through. You wouldn't see ATL padding their numbers with FBO traffic.

Why not? What difference does it make if someone is flying for business, pleasure or to a work site?

International numbers will being to bounce back in July, with a possible overall total of 180,000? YYC's numbers are pretty impressive given how much service was lost.

KLM resumed service in July. Good thing at that too, since 3 months of 0 intl pax would be embarrassing, especially when YYC is still 1 of only 4 airports in the whole country that can accept flights from Europe and Asia.

KLM Resumed July 9 twice weekly. In August they increase to 3x weekly, and WestJet is planning to resume LGW & CDG. August I'd has potential to crack the 200,000 mark.

YAM July

https://www.saultstar.com/news/local-ne ... nment-help

Passenger numbers fell more than 99 per cent in April and May, improving slightly in June to a 97.5 decline and improving to a nearly 89 per cent drop in July, the first full month Air Canada resumed flying. Last month, 2,112 passengers were at the airport.

Air Canada opted for a larger Dash 8-Q400 instead of the traditional Dash 8-300 “about four straight days” in late July, said Bos.

YYC July 2020 Stats:

Domestic: 278,515 -78%
Transborder: 8,347 -97.5%
International: 1,978 -98.8%
July Total: 288,740 -83.3%
Year to date: 4,063,153 -61.1%

Almost double compared to June. Total number of international/US crosses 10,000 compared to just 4,000 in June.

They exceeded my expectations again (I suspected about 200,000). I suspect August will be just a little higher or around the same. Nice to see international numbers again too. Should get a nice boost in August with WS back in LGW and CDG.

YQM, YSJ & YHZ (sort of) July

https://www.iheartradio.ca/virginradio/ ... 1.13322490

"In July we saw 5,814 passengers, which is great growth, but very short from where we normally are," said Bernard LeBlanc, the president of the Greater Moncton Roméo Leblanc International Airport.

Normally, that number is over 60,000. As a result, the airport will lose in excess of $10 million dollars this year -- more than 50 per cent of its annual revenue.

Flights returned to Saint John airport on June 22, but only 1,588 passengers flew in July, down from 28,000 the previous year.

Like Moncton, the region's largest airport is seeing a modest increase in air traffic.

"In July, we were still 90 per cent fewer passengers in our airport than compared to last year and it’s been as low as 98 per cent in April and May, so a slight uptick but we certainly have a long way to go for recovery," said Halifax Stanfield International Airport spokesperson Tiffany Chase.

Part of that recovery could happen if a Canada-wide bubble is established.

"In Western Canada, there is a bit more activity because there are less travel restrictions, so when Atlantic Canada can get into that bubble, that’s something we think will definitely help the Moncton airport and Atlantic Canadian airports," LeBlanc said.

Luckily, cargo has been consistent. Domestic shipments are down by about 20 per cent, but international cargo flights are relatively unchanged.

"Cargo has been sustaining a lot of our revenue base as has the federal wage subsidy program," LeBlanc said.

PAL airlines will be starting service from Moncton to Newfoundland on Sept. 21.

Ottawa flights are in the works too if and when travel restrictions are lifted with Ontario.
