US DOT Secretary Chao at MKE today?

Wed Feb 19, 2020 5:06 pm

Take this for what it's worth, but saw a tweet last night that said this:
"U.S. DOT Secretary Elaine Chao will be in Milwaukee Wednesday afternoon "to make a significant, nationwide airport infrastructure funding announcement"
Anyone know what this is about? I haven't seen anything about this visit in any other media outlets. If true, something to do with the new terminal/international terminal design?

Dang -- my first thought was the the announcement is in MKE because it is receiving a very substantial benefit from this project -- why else go to MKE? But given that we were a pivotal 2016 state and likely so in 2020 the location might well just be to try to drum up votes in a place where a few votes matter. Maybe we *do* get something substantial, but just as likely we and dozens of other airports may get money for mundane stuff like repaving a taxiway and the MKE location is purely political. We shall see... :-/

Maybe she’s in town to take credit for the Zoo Interchange.
