For the second time in the month, Interjet stopped operations last weekend, still no flights in operation today in FR24.

I think the only surprise is that they still aren't bankrupt. I wonder why their creditors haven't pushed for it after they keep failing to pay their debts.

According to Mexican news outlets, Interjet canceled all flights today because they can't pay for fuel and workers are asking for a government takeover.

Come on! Seriously? I lost oversight, that's the 5th(??) grounding in 4 weeks... If they even can't pay the fuel to fly and salaries for month, how can they pay for necessary maintenance - hence I can't understand why the Mexican regulators DGAC (Dirección General de Aeronáutica Civil) isn't pulling the plug and eventually revoking their AOC... :scratchchin:

It has been said that the new owners (or major stakeholders), are very close with President López Obrador. And, as the last one criticized for years that President Calderón didn't do nothing to prevent Mexicana's bankruptcy, they'll do something for saving Interjet.

I have my doubts because this government tends to do or decide things without a plan, budget or alternatives.

Seems the issue this time is that Interjet owes 363 million pesos ($18mil) in unpaid air navigation charges dating back to 2019 which has forced the airline to cancel flights since December 11th.

Not sure what the point is, but unions have given the grounded airline until January 5th to pay back wages, otherwise they will go on strike starting January 8.

Looks like Interjet extended its cancellation of all its flights until 10 January.

Something is for sure being cooked at the highest mexican goverment level regading both Interjet and Mexicana de Aviación. That is why in my opinion Interjet has not finally folded nor has put the house in order. I have the feeling we will see a "new Mexicana brand airline" rising from what ever is left of Interjet. My two cents...
