For those guessing LATAM commencing GRU-CLT, how big of a market is CLT-South America? Enough to support a year round, daily flight?

LATAM is not going to fly to CLT, why would they? US/AA could not make it work, how would LATAM. There is little to no traffic between CLT and Brazil/Chile or Peru.

Maybe tear out 5/23 and build a whole new intl WB concourse for AA.

More people fly between Miami and Sao Paulo in a week than Charlotte and Brazil in a year.

Never going to happen.

I believe there are plans to add a Sky Club. I don’t know how soon, whether it’s in the short term or a longer term with the next A concourse addition. No source to share, just a rumor I picked up as a local.

AA has flown CLT - CID since 2016. I’ve taken it numerous times, and actually just took it last Monday and again this Saturday. And it’s up to 3x daily too. ICT probably is long overdue. I could see FSD starting before FAR. COU / Columbia MO is also another one I could see coming.

Must've missed the news on that one. I don't think AA flies to MLI/PIA/BMI from CLT, either. One of those seems possible too. I doubt it's South America, either.

AA also does PIA-CLT, it was announced and started at same time as CID—CLT, route commenced in November 2016. They don’t do BMI or MLI but do fly CMI

I have to UI wouldn't be surprised if they started CLT-HNL/OGG. The reason they stopped flying the route years ago was the 762's didn't have the range to make it westbound and US had to divert for fuel (PHX) too often. Now, with the 330's and 787's, they can easily cover the distance. Schedule a flight to allow for connections, and it could work. No different than Delta flying ATL-HNL or United flying IAD/EWR-HNL.

While repeated perpetually on here, there's no credible source to the rumor, and the rumor itself lacks credibility. DL SkyClubs are located either in strategic markets, or markets in which its dubbing as the de facto lounge for a long-haul flight by DL and/or one of its partners. CLT is neither of these, and given AA's dominance, any growth prospect by DL is limited.

ATL and EWR are vastly bigger O&D airports. So is BOS, and with that we've mentioned every city market in the Eastern Time Zone with non-stops to Hawaii. If AA is scheduling for connections CLT will have little advantage over DFW or ORD connections.

Well, since this thread is already reaching:
1. New terminal plan which is designed for the passenger volume & easy connections
2. Rolling banks finally (or again depending on perspectives) to reduce taxi times...
3. Some random AA route, HNL seems to be the crowd sourced favorite
1.4mm and counting...

Reliable sources say:
a) WN new route CLT-HKY
b) CLT turning over all fueling operations to BUC-EE's who will also be taking over bathroom duties :rotfl:
c) AA pulling out of CLT all together in favor of less expensive operations in AVL.

You do realize that CLT is a city of ~2.5 million. The only hub city with a lower population is SLC which benefits from a geography benefit in that driving is prohibitive. There simply isn't room for a second large operation.

It'd surprise me. SLC surpassed CLT in o/d traffic back in 2018 - CLT now has the least amount of o/d traffic of any hub in the country. I realize the CLT fanboys have been projecting a DL focus city or mini hub for years, but that's not going to happen -- there are dozens of markets where DL could get a larger ROI much faster than CLT. Alas, it's just a dream.

There have been talks and plans created to demolish E terminal and create a mid-field regional terminal near the CLT Old Terminal and runway 5/23(which is mainly used as a de-icing pad and taxiway now anyways), thus allowing the expansion of D and more room for wide bodies. But those plans were not designed for at least 8-10 years down the road so idk if that is a possibility.

That mid field terminal plan actually makes D-Concourse smaller ending roughly at D9 thus gaining taxiway space where D11-D13 are currently. The current E-Concourse would be demolished and would allow more widebody aircraft on the north end of D. Expansion at the end of C and B Concourses would accommodate widebody aircraft and have customs included. With this plan there is also an option for a 5th parallel runway east of 18L/36R.

This airport has no right to expand until they create free flowing 2 way taxiway. Regional jets frequently spend more time taxiing in CLT than flight time which is terrible productivity for aircraft utilization and flight crews.

I avoid CLT like the plague, overdevelopment and lack of taxiway structure you easily can land and have it take up to an hour for gate, especially when they’re pushing off the end of D and you’re on Eagle trying to get in. Interested in seeing the big announcement

As well as MIA to those same European airports, LHR twice daily with A350. And then AA on MSP-SYD. And so on. But seriously, isn't BLR a strange choice of AA's first major international destination from SEA? What would an equivalent be for DL at PHL, for example. PHL-BLR? Or to be creative, PHL-MAA? Off the wall PHL-ICN? Surprise PHL-ADD? What is going on in the minds of these route planners? And isn't it true (modulo Covid-19) that DL will almost certainly come out the victor on a war of attrition with AA?

What do people think, will SEA-BLR be a success for AA?

Personal expectation: News on A phase 2. I'm doubtful that this would be a service announcement, especially given the usual rumor pages for AA are quiet (which indicates it wouldn't be BA either).

Perhaps "right" was not the best word. It would be irresponsible to add more flights especially on E-Concourse when the taxiways are so inept. What they should do is focus on improving flow which would lead to a greater ability to expand. If I ever learn how to post a picture on here I would show you the ground movement tracker that shows up to 80 planes waiting to use the same taxiway but half are inbound and the other half are outbound. AA is wasting millions of dollars daily just in fuel and wages for aircraft stuck in this logjam.

That is about 10% YOY growth and since AA went to CLT 700 late in the year I would imagine they will add another 5K + growth this year too.

SEA is the hub of a fellow future oneworld partner with twice the market share of DL. Is there a yet undisclosed future SkyTeam partner at PHL with double the market share of AA? I am sorry, but I honestly don’t have a clue on what you are trying to get at there.
