First 787s on German register

Mon Mar 02, 2020 10:17 pm

TUIfly are acquiring two 787-8s from TUI UK later this year and will become D-.

I believe these will be the first 787s to be registered as such.

Yes, nice in deed: the first D-registered 787’s! Where will they be stationed? HAJ?

Ah, of course. The longhaul tourism capital of Germany.

#wishful thinking: they should paint one 787 in LTU-retro-colours. That would be great..

Now that would be fantastic. However TUI is not related to LTU in any way. TUI-retro colours would be Hapag Lloyd.

I wonder if TUI UK is reducing long haul capacity?

No plan to, with the demise of TCX LH routes have seen an increase, especially Mexico and Cuba - Cuba is on the cards to see more potential expansion too, LGW is another potential route. The LGW-MRU is due to go 3rd Party from November, however TUI UK are still to have 14 787s in the fleet by Summer 21.
