DL A350s at MSP

Thu Mar 05, 2020 4:16 pm

Just saw two A350s parked at the Delta hanger at MSP, one being N503DN. I guess I didn’t realize the A350s were doing the ICN route. I thought that route was covered by 777s. Cool to finally see one in person close up.

This summer, in addition to MSP-ICN, they'll also be running MSP-AMS once daily (the early flight) and MSP-HND.

At least, that was the plan before the coronavirus hit...
This is my signature until I think of a better one.

I would not bet on them flying to ICN this summer. I would expect China, South Korea, and probably a great many Japan flights to remain grounded. Same goes for other hot spots

AMS already covered. I saw one parked near C-Terminal a couple weeks back. But also saw the two A350s out near 494 on Tues night parked near the hanger next to a pair of 767s.

On March 3 DL132, DL134 and DL136 DTW to AMS were operated by an A350. Normally only DL134 is an A350. Could this (also) be related to the Corona virus problems?

They are still there as of this afternoon. Watched a DL 330 coming in over the river in the snow storm. Too bad I was working, it would have been an awesome picture.

Has it actually been confirmed that the coronavirus wont die off as warmer weather approaches like the flu? I would be shocked if we are well into June and this is still a thing

Crazy seeing relatively new birds sitting idle for so long. I think I checked flight radar and the last time N503DN flew was Feb 29th.

They moved many of the A350s from TPAC to operate flights to AMS and CDG from DTW and ATL. Plus what was already in the schedule.

Lots of slack now with all the virus suspensions and doing rolling parking of the excess frames.

Hoping that this is the case, but it has not been confirmed nor can it be really, as we're in uncharted territory and this virus has not circulated for all that long.

Makes sense, I had to do a double take when I saw to the 350s there. Normally a 777, 767, 330, or 757 there, caught me by surprise. Also for my MSP friends here, remember the NW 747-400s sitting there?

Nerdy thing. But I look forward to see what aircraft are sitting outside the big hangar next to 494. It changes every time I drive by. It was neat to see 4 WBs there Tuesday night next to an A320 and 717.

N503DN actually operated the last ICN-MSP before the Coronavirus suspension, which arrived on February 29. It has been parked at MSP since then.

I wonder if they will put them on some domestic flights to at least get something out of them.
Remind me to send a thank you note to Mr. Boeing.

Yeah, it’s a neat spot. I always try to look for some out of the ordinary there.
