Why are there three private jets 3/17 YYJ-OGG?

Seems a bit unusual, surely?

Maui is pretty normal bizjet stop/destination, no surprise there. From what I hear, both private and charter bizjets are busy now.

I’ve put several NCAA basketball teams on 3-4 biz jets departing at the same time. Everything from a G550 to a Beechjet. Hard to follow the patterns of rich people travel using a couple aircraft.

I’ve seen 3 Gulfstreams or Globals at Cuidad Real, Cork and Okeechobie, FL.

The lady who owns the private 737 at YYJ probably got sick of waiting for the long range tanks that were supposed to be installed 10 years ago, and just chartered.

Why would a 737 need long range tanks to go YYJ-OGG?

Sherry Brydson’s 737-500
In executive configuration has tremendous range.

Very low cycle.

I believe Viking Air still manages that aircraft.

Yeah for the classics the 735's range is impressive. Air North just flew a March Break YOW-YXY nonstop (bypassing the usual YZF stop) a couple of days ago on the 735 - 4,150 km...impressive!

For the many years I interacted with the aircraft, the long-range tanks had been removed. Without them they could not make it to Hawaii from YYJ, it had once been suggested trying from OAK but even from there it was very much a risky go.

So no, it did not have "tremendous range". 5.5hr legs at most.

See my post above about a 4,150 km flight with pax. About 6h15 flying time. Amongst the Classics it was best, but flying over a large body of water is a different story in terms of fuel reserves for alternates.

It often made a trip from MCO-YYJ (4200kms approx) and could never make it without a stop in Wichita for fuel.
