AMAC Aerospace is preparing a Boeing BBJ 747-8 for refurbishment following the arrival of the privately-owned VIP widebody airliner at its Basel facility in mid-March.

The Swiss MRO provider says the project will involve updating the “whole interior” and installing the “very latest” in-flight entertainment system and Ka-Band connectivity. The contract, secured last year, also includes a 72-month maintenance check.

A timeframe for the BBJ 747-8’s refurbishment and subsequent redelivery to its owner has not been disclosed.

Well, the Saudi Government is essentially the Royal Family, and not all the members of this family make it to biblical ages so to speak. Also, the days of Saudi Royal visits with dozens of aircraft on the move are long gone. It seemed unlikely, but they have become a lot more pragmatic in comparison to about 10-15 years ago.

Because the only 748 in BSL are the A7-HHF which is still being equipped since 2017 and the N458BJ.

Dollar for dollar, Platinum wears better than gold. Plus gold Gold, is garish IMHO, but I prefer White Gold or of course I much prefer Platinum.

Well thought out, fact based response. I'd go with Platinum, however my 748 BBJ was just refurbished with all stainless Kohler Fixtures as the budget was getting tight.
