Hawaii extends 14 day quarantine exemption which would have taken effect on August 1, now to September 1, provided that arriving pax would have to submit a negative covid test which had been taken within 72 hours of arrival (which in itself is not a sure thing due to testing delays).

Followup for April 2020 passenger and cargo numbers in Germany: https://www.adv.aero/wp-content/uploads ... tistik.pdf

-98.6 % overall passengers

May has proven to be almost as devastating as April, with only a very minor increase in passenger numbers to/from Germany. Increased capacity in the cargo market is starting to make an impact, though there's a clear imbalance with significantly more imports than exports (by tonnage). https://www.adv.aero/wp-content/uploads ... tistik.pdf

-97.9 % overall passengers
-10.5 % overall cargo

Split by destination:
-97.8 % longhaul
-98.3 % to Europe (excl. Germany)
-96.6 % domestic

Passengers split by airport:
FRA 272.701 (-95,6%)
TXL 40.805 (-98,1%) ** Berlin surpasses Munich for the first time ever
MUC 39.260 (-99,1%)
HAM 33.163 (-97,9%)
DUS 31.657 (-98,6%)
SXF 11.230 (-98,9%)
CGN 8.848 (-99,2%)
STR 7.638 (-99.4%)

In May, Lufthansa was still focused on their main hub in FRA. All other airports remained at near-zero passenger numbers. Several regional airports adopt a prior-permission-required model rather than fixed opening hours, and become parking lots for undelivered A320.

Cargo split by airport [in metric tonnes]:
FRA 157.380 (-13.6%)
LEJ 113.720 (+6.4%)
CGN 69.481 (-1.1%)
HHN 17.862 (+81.4%)
MUC 7.322 (-75.5%)
HAJ 1.734 (+93.5%)

Leipzig sees growth for the second month in a row. Ad-hoc charters result in massive increases for some airports, especially Frankfurt-Hahn. FRA gets much more cargo unloaded (83.702 t) than loaded (73.678 t).

https://dfw.cbslocal.com/2020/07/22/dal ... -covid-19/

Dallas Love Field will be testing a thermal screening initiative for Southwest Airlines passengers as the COVID-19 pandemic continues.

The city of Dallas on Wednesday announced the airport will host the pilot program that it’s expected to begin in early August.

The goal of the project is to use thermal screening cameras to take the body temperatures of passengers at TSA checkpoints.

Reuters reports that IATA has pushed back their earlier forecast for recovery to pre-crisis traffic levels from 2023 to 2024.

Global airlines cut their coronavirus recovery forecast on Tuesday, saying it would take until 2024 - a year longer than previously expected - for passenger traffic to return to pre-crisis levels.

In an update on the pandemic’s crippling impact on air travel, the International Air Transport Association (IATA) cited slow virus containment in the United States and developing countries, and a weaker outlook for corporate travel.
