Travellers to New Zealand from the UK and the US from Jan 15th will require a pre departure negative PCR test not more then 72.hours old.
The requirement will be extended to other high risk departure points.
This is in addition to the new arrival PCR test, and the 14day managed isolation in a secure facility with additional tests on days 3 and 12.
Places in managed isolation must be pre booked and are reserved for NZ citizens, or residents, and their partners and children or people and their families entering under essential or economic benifit approvals.
The more virulent UK strain has been detected in recent arrivals in managed isolation.

Ryanair is making big cuts to its flight schedule from 21 January.

It warned that few, if any, flights would operate to or from Ireland or the UK from the end of January until "draconian" restrictions were removed.

EasyJet cancels holidays through to late March
EasyJet plane
Getty ImagesCopyright: Getty Images
EasyJet is cancelling holidays up until the last week in March amid the tightening of lockdowns around the world and international travel restrictions.

The operator says it's in the process of contacting customers who have holidays booked up to and including 24 March to let them know they will not be able to travel.

EasyJet says customers can choose to move their trip or receive a full refund or credit to be spent in the next 12 months.

Matt Callaghan, EasyJet holidays customer director, says: "We know this news will be disappointing. But we want to give our customers as much flexibility and choice as possible so they can decide what is best for them."

The company had already cancelled breaks up to the end of February following lockdown announcements made on 4 January.

If airlines are refunding/rebooking up to late March, it would seem that any real improvement is further away than previously thought.

Single dose Vaccine (Pfizer) not working as well as hoped: https://www.msn.com/en-au/news/world/si ... r-BB1cTyhf

Questions over the effectiveness of the vaccine were raised amid reports that thousands of Israelis were still becoming sick after receiving the vaccine, although the public health services head, Sharon Alroy-Preis, said that in most cases this was because the individuals had not built up sufficient antibodies after being inoculated before being exposed to the virus.

Basically, the second dose seems to be needed to really slow the virus. Bummer

:alert: For those heading into AMS, be advised

As of January 23th, there is a nightly curfew in the Netherlands. This means that you may not be outside between 9pm and 04.30am. How does this affect your journey to or from Schiphol?

Schiphol will remain open for necessary passenger flights, cargo flights, emergency services and diverted aircraft, also during curfew hours.

Are you travelling to Schiphol during curfew hours for the sake of essential travel? Then you need a personal declaration and a valid ticket. This applies to both personal and public transportation.

We'd also like to point out that it is not permitted to drop someone off or pick them up from Schiphol during curfew hours. Alternative options for travellers are to use own transportation and park at Schiphol or the use of taxis and public transport.

Canada has an agreement with the four major international Canadian airlines (AC, WS, TS, WG) to suspend all flights to the Caribbean and Mexico from Jan 31 to April 30.

Canada also has a mandatory 14 day quarantine at home for everybody visiting or returning to Canada since last year. In addition:
"Travellers will then have to wait up to three days at a government-approved hotel for their test results, at their own expense, which Trudeau said is expected to be more than $2,000."
"Those with a negative test will then be able to finish their 14-day quarantine at home, with increased surveillance. Chief Public Health Officer Dr. Theresa Tam added that returnees will also be swabbed on day 10."

This will effectively stop most non-work related travel to and from Canada for the next three months.

Great news from Serbia. All businessmen entering Serbia can do so without a PCR test as long as they submit their request to the Serbian Chamber of Commerce. Their information is forwarded to the border control which grants them entry into the country. Once in the country they have 48 hours to do a rapid test at one of the accredited labs.

Serbia currently ranks second in Europe in terms of vaccination per 100.000 people. So far 6.3% of the population has been vaccinated. Serbia is expected 2 million doses of Sputnik vaccine to be delivered until the end of March. This is in addition to Pfizer, Sinopharm and Astra-Zeneca.
