Sunwing fleet changes

Wed Mar 25, 2020 1:07 pm

Between winter leases end and Coronavirus impact, Sunwing fleet is evolving too.

Currenty, there are three 738 enroute to Europe from YYZ that are nearing Newfoundland and Labrador.

C-GWVB WG9950 heading to BHX; C-GPVS WG9940 to PRG & C-FFVJ WG9954 to PRG.

These are winter lease returns to Tui and Travel Service, nothing new really, just probably slightly earlier than anticipated. Look for a lot more to ferry over in the coming days. Sunwing has outright stopped operations completely in wake of the COVID-19 with no target start date set as of yet. Granted their winter lease aircraft usually only stick around till late April at the latest. Look for Transat to do the same with some of their A321's that were leased this winter, they are still flying but apparently winding down the operation in the coming weeks. It will be an interesting time for Canadian aviation these next few months...

One more Sunwing B-737 is currently at YHM being prepared for return (C-GQWM - TUI Airways) - also C-FBDB (Pricess spec. c/s) present for work at KF. Air Transat B-737-800 OK-TVW just departed YHM for KEF on return to Smartwings/Travel Service. Yes, one month earlier than normal.

I noticed 2 Sunwing lease return flights from YUL yesterday on Flightaware (1 to Newcastle and 1 to Praque).

I believe all 14 of the NGs are now parked on a closed runway at YKF. Not too sure where the 4 Max aircraft are currently parked.

I doubt so. There was no TUI Belgium plane flying for Sunwing this winter...
