TUI 767 into LHR

Wed Mar 25, 2020 7:16 pm

Hi guys,

Just seen on Flightradar24 a TUI 767 (G-OBYH) heading into London Heathrow from Marseille.

This has got to be the first TUI aircraft ever at Heathrow hasn’t it?

Tui doesn’t have regular ops into LHR but it does occasionally divert although pilots are advised not if avoidable to due to no ground handling contracts in place a few years ago it did actually operate a charter flight into LHR. So not the first one no.

In the past when British Airways staff have gone on strike, one sometimes sees various other airlines being brought in as charter surrogates - I recall about 10 years ago, Ryanair being chartered for a few days to operate BA flights. I think that TUI (or Thomson) have also operated into Heathrow under these circumstances as well

TUI have done 1 or 2 flights from LHR for BA the other year when BA Staff went on strike if I remember correctly the aircraft used then was B738 G-FDZT

Ryanair never operated from LHR, it operated from LGW.

I’m 99% sure Ryanair operated BA flights during the cabin crew strike.

We actually had a 787 divert into LHR from LGW a few years ago, 4th September 2016 B788 G-TUIB BY4763/TOM6PY LCA-LGW weather related I believe.

Yeah, that is correct, but they never operated for BA at LHR. They did operate at LGW.

Correct. One of the MSC ships I believe had a lot of British guests onboard.

During the major Mixed Fleet cabin crew strike a few years back, Ryanair 100% operated from Heathrow, I flew from Heathrow to Hamburg on a Ryanair 737-800, with Ryanair cabin crew even serving what was supposed to be the “Club Europe” cabin, which was amusing.

You bet Ryanair operated out of LHR T5 during the cabin crew strike. I parked next to a couple in my EuroAtlantic 757.
