QFA8 Flying Nonstop LHR - Australia?

Fri Mar 27, 2020 2:52 am

FlightRadar24 shows VH-OQH flying west nonstop from LHR towards Australia. This aircraft flew SYD-DFW on March 25 as QFA7. Normally the aircraft lands about 12:55 pm and operates the return to SYD as QFA8 in the evening of the same day. I would assume it instead continued on to LHR for a repatriation flight of some sort. Flying nonstop in a westerly direction would almost certainly require an intermediate stop...unless it were mostly empty?

Probably a glitch? Today's DFW-SYD flight left 14 hours late, so there's something up with that.

QF 1 and QF 2 are operating SYD-DRW-LHR due to no transit in.SIN. DRW is a stop for fuel only.

BA have gotten permission to fly passengers from SYD-LHR via SIN but they must remain onboard the aircraft the entire time...that’s a long way in an economy seat.

QF pax also remain onboard when refuelling at DRW.
