SkyWest grounding flights?

Wed Apr 01, 2020 11:36 am

Just heard SkyWest has canceled their Delta Connection flights as of today. I dont see any flights scheduled out of LGA today. Can anyone confirm this?

Doesn't appear to be true.

Several DL branded flights in the air right now

We have at least 2 OO flights operating in/out of my station today as well.

Some flights in the Eastern time zone departed normally but there have been many cancellations.

Flightaware has a 19% cancellation rate for Skywest today. Normally that would be alarming but it's not out of line these days. If they were grounding all DL* flights it would be a much higher number.

Maybe the source is speaking of a particular airport such as LGA? Today is 4/1 and assuming the "April" schedule starts today it would not be a surprise to find a particular Delta Connection carrier is no longer being used at airport XXX because the drastic cuts. But that's very different than what "grounding" implies.

Delta/Delta Connection has done a multi day near total pull-down of NYC. OO's crew base at LGA is closed now, so they probably don't have any LGA 175 flying left at this point anyway.

That's my thought as well. DL gutted the NYC schedules since it's the epicenter of the coronavirus outbreak in the US. Between that and OO being migrated back west for Delta (ATL base closes 4/30) it is no surprise OO is non-existent on the east coast today.
It is a mistake to think you can solve any major problems with just potatoes.
