Emirates B777 and British Airways A350 collision on pushback at DXB

Tue Apr 14, 2020 12:04 pm

Yesterday night an Emirates B777-300ER, regesteration A6-EBR and British Airways, registration G-XWBA, has came into collision at Dubai International Airport.

It appears that the incident happened while the BA aircraft was on push back. The aircraft has suffered a damage in its horizontal stabilizer.

From the pictures, at least one of these was being pushed back... :)

It also seems the pseudo of the original poster is very well suited to the topic.

I assume both planes will be easy to fix but you feel that kind of thing really shouldn't happen.

BA is not having a good time with their A350s.

That should be a simple replacement order of that stabiliser. It shouldn’t take too long. It’s just annoying

It’s so strange. And You never hear these damages with other types in the fleet.

I wonder if it's a wingwalker fail...either inattention or the lack of a wingwalker. I wonder if ground congestion contributed as well.

There must be much less congestion at airports at the moment. I wonder if there have been some ground staffing cuts.

And this on a DXB that has barely any traffic. Unbelievable.

The BA A350 fleet does seem a bit jinxed compared with their other fleets.

Minor incidents don’t get reported for older types.

This is the first time for WBA it’s WBD that’s “cursed”

Oh yeah I got that mixed up. Still, the A350 fleet is having a lot of incidents compared to other aircraft in the fleet.

That A350s horizontal stabilizer is sharp.

It looks like a symbolism between A350 and B777X order.

There may be few planes moving but I wonder if there is a congestion of parked planes. I can't find a current picture of DXB apron. Maybe it contributed to that kind of problem.

I should've clarified that I meant congestion in the form of many parked aircraft, especially given EK's systemwide grounding (aside from SkyCargo).
