it's goeasternair.com
Fingers crossed for 2020: YHM-YXX/YVR-YYZ. Later it's YYZ-DFW-SFO-SEA-HKG-SGN-ICN-ATL-YUL including my first B748i - if they're still around!

Do they operate any scheduled flights or are they running charters?

It’s been parked at G16 at MIA for the past few days (as shown in the video linked above), but I wasn’t able to snap a photo before getting furloughed and losing my ramp access.

The new livery is fairly bland. I’m not sure why they’re bothering to keep the Eastern name if they’re not going to use any elements of the brand other than a hockey stick hidden in the tail design.

Also, what airport is SMLP?

Lately they’ve been running repatriation flights on behalf of various companies and governments, and charging as much as they can for it. Tickets on their PAP-MIA flight were priced at $1,300.

That money clearly doesn’t go into maintaining the airplanes.

They also offer Georgetown, Guyana (GEO) to JFK on sale... But in the moment, they seems to do only relief flights, like GYE to MIA.

Looking good for a nearly 35 year old veteran. :airplane:

You sure that the code is not MSLP? That would be SAL.

Interesting, thank you, I wasn't aware of those scheduled flights. Hope they make it, it's always nice when we have an extra airline flying around.

Isn't that the 3rd time they changed their livery in the last 2 years? And they are part of the Xtra Airways/Swift Air/IAero Airways Group, which changed name and livery also quite often in the last 2 years, as far as I understand. What is their strategy behind this?

Yes, but according to its website, the service ended in late March.

No. The guy that owns Eastern (Woolley) used to own a sizeable chunk of Swift. All of Swift was sold to iAero Group. Xtra Airways was sold to Houston Air, and sold all but one airplane to Swift. It was never part of Swift/iAero.

I hope that this livery transitions to the entire fleet. Having Eastern become its own brand needs a unique identity and this will help.

Fourth if you count their previous existence as Dynamic Airways.

I believe they had at least partial ownership in common with Swift Air, which then bought Eastern 2.0 (the one with the 737NGs and the MRJ order). Dynamic was renamed Eastern and adopted the Swift Air livery, and the 767s were reregistered with "KW" suffixes. Some aircraft did not receive titles and some were kept all white. (the caption in the third photo sums up their operational reliability)

When the association with Swift ended, Eastern began adopting a variation of the classic Eastern livery, albeit with no tail design whatseover.

Now they've decided to ditch the original Eastern banding elements entirely.

Then why bother tarnishing the Eastern brand for it?

The Falcon logo doesn't have the oval outlined in white, though - it blends completely into the Ionosphere Blue background.

Mixed feelings. I would have liked to see the old Eastern fly again, but it is probably good for a new company to build a new identity.

Thanks for the clarification, makes all more sense now!
