Not sure either. I'll try to get some more info if I can.

In other news, Lufthansa 747-400 D-ABVO filed BOS-MHV 10AM - 1PM as LH9872 for retirement tomorrow (Friday December 18).

Also, Delta 777-200ER N865DA filed BHM-VCV 12PM - 2:13PM as DL9937 for retirement tomorrow (Friday December 18). Rumored to be the last Delta 777 flight.

Another bonus for tomorrow a VCV, there is supposedly a DL MD90 coming in from BYH as well. Tomorrow you get 2 now retired fleet types, with last flights possibly ever in DL colors. An MD90 and & B77E.

Add to that maybe the last flight of an MD90 ever too, unless they plan on sending more to VCV or someone buys a defunct fleet type.

Yup, Delta MD-90-30 N962DN filed BYH-VCV 1PM - 2:43PM as DL9938 for retirement. 'A guy' told me that they aren't owned by Delta anymore and that he doesn't know the plans for them, so there may be a few more ferries yet to come, who knows.

https://www.flightradar24.com/data/aircraft/n962dn

Gaah, it's gonna be so hard to decide between VCV and MHV tomorrow (I have yet to catch a LH 744 at MHV and I know the shots would be great, but VCV has two retired fleet types coming in as you say). Delta ferry flights have a tendency to be cancelled/not be on time :duck: so I may go to MHV

Yup, thought that something like that would happen. Saw it on FlightAware but it wasn’t confirmed everywhere so didn’t bother posting it. Annoying it’s coming after dark but that just made my choice easier. MHV, here I come!

Southwest 737MAX8 N8735L exited storage VCV-PHX as WN8700. This is the first delivered (before the grounding) Southwest 737MAX out of VCV storage since they were originally sent there nearly 2 years ago. Going to be a strange sight not seeing them all grouped together at VCV. I guess it frees up storage space for the other aircraft there though. Please supreme leader of the universe park some good aircraft right next to the fence

How does a flight crew generally get to VCV (or any other boneyard) to return an aircraft to service? Conversely, if a flight crew is delivering an aircraft to a boneyard, how do they generally get back home? I know this may be different on a case by case basis. Just wondering what the typical operation might look like.

Generally the airlines arrange a shuttle from these airports back to LAX. Sometimes someone from the yard will drive the crew back too.

If you look at the photo provided on FR24 for N67TC (which is what FlightAware says the registration is), and look at the location, it matches with MEX. The photo provided on FR24 shows a converted Jet Airways 737-800F. Possibly at SBD for maintenance or paint...?

Ukrainian cargo charter company. Originally it was rumored that they were flying MD-80 parts out of SBD but they’ve been running that route for so long I’m not sure what they’re doing. Here’s their website:

Just because they’re Ukrainian doesn’t mean they fly all of their cargo there. They’re flying SBD-IAH-MGA (Managua, Nicaragua).
